@gFunk Thanks for the heads up. This has been reported a few times, it is a false positive. Also if anyone is using WebRoot you might see a similar message. There are no viruses in Disastr_Blastr. :)

@jimp1959 I am also an AVG user, and had the same problem. I called AVG support and actually had to pay them money to investigate the issue... They confirmed that it is a false positive, and agreed to whitelist Disastr_Blastr. The technician who worked with me simply went into AVG and created an exception for the directory with Disastr_Blastr, after that it worked fine.

I will contact AVG again and see if they are willing to help, but unfortunately they are in the business of extracting money from their users, not supporting devs like me. :)

In order to get AVG to allow you to play Disastr_Blastr, here is the workaround:
-Open AVG Antivirus
-Click "Menu" in the top bar and choose "Settings"
-In the "General" panel, click and expand the "Exceptions" drop-down menu
-Click the "Add" button, and copy/paste the path to the directory with Disastr_Blastr
-EXAMPLE PATH: C:\Disastr_Blastr\*

After this the game should run normally. Sorry for the inconvenience! :)

There's only "Device Settings" under the menu, and it has no "exceptions" drop down menu (see screenshot in that area of the steam hub. No "exceptions" in the help listing either. Still can't play it 8'( looks interesting though. Can't you patch it so it doesn't mimic a virus anymore?

Hey jimp1959, sorry you are still having trouble with AVG! I checked out your screenshot, and it looks like you just need to click where it says "Antivirus Free Basic Protection". Once you are in this area of the AVG interface, you will be able to click "Menu", find "Settings", and proceed with the workaround. Let me know if you have any further problems, and sorry again for the hassle. :)

Well, it wasn't from that screen, but I did find the "Antivirus Free Basic Protection" from your discription. I put in the artwork what I had to do to get AVG to stop removing Disastr_Blastr. I had to un/re-install a few times to get AVG to accept it though,

Well, it worked yesterday. After restarting the computer, AVG blocked the game again. Was there other files it updates (save files maybe)? The only two files in that path was the .exe and the .ini file.

@jimp1959 There are no other files associated with the game, the .exe is the program itself and the .ini file is the player's saved data.

I checked out the screenshot you posted, and it looks correct. The only difference in my AVG exceptions is I also have an additional exception for: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\*

Excepting everything in my steam directory takes a little too much trust. Thanks for the help, I found the game interesting.

@jimp1959 There is no reason why you would need to except the whole Steam directory... I tried removing the Steam path from my AVG exceptions, and Disastr_Blastr still runs fine on my system. I just have this one:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Disastr_Blastr\*

To the best of my knowledge you should be able to do the same thing, can't think of any reason why it wouldn't work... I have gone to AVG support twice already with this issue, the first time they assured me it would be fixed in the next update (it wasn't), and the second time they told me to contact another department... It is pretty frustrating, but I will keep trying to work with them to find a solution!

Hey everyone, just wanted to let you guys know that I have submitted Disastr_Blastr to AVG to be whitelisted. Not sure how long the process will take... Webroot has already whitelisted it, I know some of you have had trouble with Avast as well... Sorry for the hassle guys, I really did not expect this much trouble! I wlll post again when I know more. :)
