Metro 2033
How to Improve FPS for Metro 2033
Thought I'd ask, since I've noticed it was getting a little low at points. I usually have around 60 when nobody in-game is moving, but once several people in the same room move around, it dips to around 40, and it got down to 30 a few times. I know it's not my computer, since it can handle LoL at max settings without even needing the fan on.

Here's my system specs:
OS: Windows 7 64-bit
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 770
CPU: Intel Core i5-4670K
Installed RAM: 8 GB
Free Space on HDD: 717 GB

I've already changed Directx to 9, and changed anti-aliasing to AAA, both to no effect. I currently have the video settings at Very High, but it still has the same FPS at high. This is the only game I've had FPS issues with so far.

Both the Metro series are Known to make ALL gpus or (video cards) cry for mercy! You have decent equipment I dont know why your getting those Fps. I have a Fx 9370,Gtx 580, Also have Radeon 6970 crossfire and it gets alot more fps on the Radeons but I perfer playing on Nvidia cards.
Make sure the advanced physx is off in the game options.
Yeah, I heard that from searching around for fellow Metro players with bad FPS. I was hoping that Last Light might be a little better, but I guess not :/ Oh well, it's pretty good so far, I just don't want to play it until I can find out how to fix the FPS, since it makes it hard to tell where people are moving, and makes everything look choppy.

Ahhh, that might be it. I turned that on when I started, and I haven't turned it off since. So, turn off Advanced Physx. I also have Advanced FoV and Tesselation off. Would changing either of those options help? I'm fairly new to PC gaming, so any help is very appreciated.

Advanced physx is the biggest FPS killer in the metro games, if you turn it off, it should be much better. Just make sure you restart the game after you turned it off. And check if its stayed off.

DX11 runs better than DX9, you should be able to play this game on everything maxed except for AA. I turn DoF off because it is processor expensive and max everything with MSAA, Physx, and Tessellation with 660Ti SLI. Physx should work fine with the 770, AMD cards have the issue with Physx.
Turned off Advanced Physx, and that fixed a lot of the issues I was having. It'll still drop to high 40s occasionally when there's multiple moving people on-screen, but nothing as bad as the fps I had before.
Which screen resolution are you running the game at?
Turning off Advanced DOF in DX11 options will increase your framerate in a 100%, i get 100+ FPS in some areas. I own a 770 too.
