I suggest building out more with early tech. Chain a bunch of coal mines, automate the metals right away and mine like crazy early game. Build more science so you progress faster.
Watch a couple speed runs for ideas.
What do you count as 'early game'? Just the initial burner mining phase? Or also the bootstrap phase where you are doing red (only) science and still handloading some of your assemblers (or the chests that feed them)? Or everything before blue science (including a fully automated factory making red and green science)?
