MINIMUM SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS

OS: WINDOWS 7/8/10 (64-BIT)

HOW TO CHOOSE THE GAME LANGUAGE

1. Run Steam and click LIBRARY.
2. Right click on Vampyr and click Properties.
3. Click the tab LANGUAGE.

SAVEGAME LOCATION

1. Open Windows Explorer or File Explorer from the taskbar.
2. Open the Local Disk (C:).
3. Open the folder Users then the folder of your Windows username.
4. Open the folder AppData (*) > Local.
5. Open the folder AVGame > Saved > SaveGames.

(*) The AppData folder is a hidden folder by default. To view this folder:

WINDOWS 7
- Open Windows Explorer from the taskbar.
- Click Organize > Folder and search options.
- Click the tab View and check Show hidden files, folders and drives under Hidden files and folders from Advanced Settings.
- Click OK.

WINDOWS 8/10
- Open File Explorer from the taskbar.
- Click the tab View and check Hidden items.

CHECK THAT VAMPYR IS CORRECTLY INSTALLED

1. Run Steam and click LIBRARY.
2. Right click on Vampyr and click Properties.
3. Click the tab LOCAL FILES and click VERIFY INTEGRITY OF GAME FILES....

INSTALL UE4 PREREQUISITES

1. Run Steam and click LIBRARY.
2. Right click on Vampyr and click Properties.
3. Click the tab LOCAL FILES and click BROWSE LOCAL FILES....
4. Open the folder Engine > Extras > Redist > en-us.
5. Right click on the application UE4PrereqSetup_x64 and click Run as administrator.

UPDATE WINDOWS 10

1. Click the Windows Start button and click Settings.
2. Click Update & Security.
3. Click the button Check for updates from Windows Update.

UPDATE THE DRIVER OF THE GRAPHICS CARD

AMD

Please update the driver of the AMD graphics card from:
http://support.amd.com/en-us/download

NVIDIA

Please update the driver of the NVIDIA graphics card from:
http://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx?lang=en-us

TROUBLESHOOTER

1. Run Steam and click LIBRARY.
2. Right click on Vampyr and click Properties.
3. Click the tab LOCAL FILES and click BROWSE LOCAL FILES....
4. Open the folder AVGame > Binaries > Win64.
5. Right click on the application AVGame-Win64-Shipping > Troubleshoot compatibility.
6. Select Try recommended settings.

COMPATIBILITY MODE

1. Run Steam and click LIBRARY.
2. Right click on Vampyr and click Properties.
3. Click the tab LOCAL FILES and click BROWSE LOCAL FILES....
4. Open the folder AVGame > Binaries > Win64.
5. Right click on the application AVGame-Win64-Shipping > Properties.
6. Click the tab Compatibility.
7. Check Run this program in compatibility mode for.
8. Select Windows 7 or Windows 8.
9. Click OK.

GAME CRASHING ON STARTUP

1. Open Windows Explorer or File Explorer from the taskbar.
2. Open the Local Disk (C:).
3. Open the folder Users then the folder of your Windows username.
4. Open the folder AppData (*) > Local and rename the folder AVGame.
5. Run Steam and click LIBRARY.
6. Right click on Vampyr and click Properties.
7. Click UPDATES tab then uncheck Enable Steam Cloud synchronization for Vampyr and click CLOSE.
8. Run Vampyr.

TO RECOVER YOUR SAVEGAME:

1. Open Windows Explorer or File Explorer from the taskbar.
2. Open the Local Disk (C:).
3. Open the folder Users then the folder of your Windows username.
4. Open the folder AppData > Local.
5. Open the renamed AVGame folder > Saved > SaveGames.

(*) The AppData folder is a hidden folder by default. To view this folder:

WINDOWS 7
- Open Windows Explorer from the taskbar.
- Click Organize > Folder and search options.
- Click the tab View and check Show hidden files, folders and drives under Hidden files and folders from Advanced Settings.
- Click OK.

WINDOWS 8/10
- Open File Explorer from the taskbar.
- Click the tab View and check Hidden items.

SET VISUAL EFFECTS TO BEST PERFORMANCE

1. Open Windows Explorer or File Explorer from the taskbar.
2. Right click on This PC > Properties > Advanced system settings.
3. Click Settings... button under Performance.
4. Check Adjust for best performance under the Visual Effects tab and click OK.

GREEN SCREEN FLICKERING / BLACK SCREEN

If you own a NVIDIA graphics card, please try the following workaround from the manufacturer: http://nvidia.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/4580/

Otherwise, please update your display driver:

AMD https://support.amd.com/en-us
NVIDIA http://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx?lang=en-us

You can also switch in Windowed mode:
Select OPTIONS > VIDEO > GENERAL > TURN OFF FULL SCREEN or press F11 key from the home screen.

GAME FREEZING AFTER THE TITLE SCREEN

1. Open Windows Explorer or File Explorer from the taskbar.
2. Open the Local Disk (C:).
3. Open the folder Users then the folder of your Windows username.
4. Open the folder AppData (*) > Local.
5. Open the folder AVGame > Saved > SaveGames.
6. Delete Settings.sav and Settings_Backup.sav files.

(*) The AppData folder is a hidden folder by default. To view this folder:

WINDOWS 7
- Open Windows Explorer from the taskbar.
- Click Organize > Folder and search options.
- Click the tab View and check Show hidden files, folders and drives under Hidden files and folders from Advanced Settings.
- Click OK.

WINDOWS 8/10
- Open File Explorer from the taskbar.
- Click the tab View and check Hidden items.

GAME FREEZING/CRASHING WHILE PLAYING

Please run Vampyr and select your game slot.
Click OPTIONS > VIDEO > ADVANCED.
Set POST PROCESS QUALITY to LOW.
Set SCATTER QUALITY to LOW.
Set VIEW DISTANCE to LOW.
Set RESOLUTION-SCALE to 70%.

Otherwise, downclocking the graphics card (core and memory) or reducing the GPU Power Target through applications like AEORUS Software, ASUS GPU Tweak II, EVGA Precision or MSI Afterburner could solve the issue.

You can also uninstall applications such as ASUS Sonic Studio II, MSI Gaming APP and other software suite installed by motherboard manufacturers.


START THE GAME ON ANOTHER DISPLAY

If you have two (or more) displays and the game always running on the same display.
There is a workaround in order to start the game on the desired display:

1. Run Vampyr and press F11 key to switch in windowed mode from the home screen.
2. Press WINDOWS+SHIFT+LEFT or RIGHT ARROW keys to move the game window to the desired display.
3. Press F11 key to switch in fullscreen mode.

FRAME RATE / STUTTERING ISSUES

Please try the following solutions:

A. if you own a NVIDIA graphics card, please set the vertical sync to adaptive:

1. Right click on the background of the Windows Desktop and click NVIDIA Control Panel.
2. Click Manage 3D settings under 3D Settings from Select a Task....
3. Set Vertical sync to Adaptive under Global Settings tab.
4. Click the button Apply (bottom right) then close the NVIDIA Control Panel.
5. Run Vampyr.

B. Turn off Game bar and Game DVR:

1. Click the Windows Start button and click Settings > Gaming.
2. Click Game Bar.
3. Turn off Record game clips, screenshots, and broadcast using Game bar.
4. Uncheck Show Game bar when I play full screen games Microsoft has verified.
5. Click Game DVR.
6. Turn off Record in the background while I'm playing a game.
7. Close Settings and run Vampyr.

C. Click OPTIONS > VIDEO > GENERAL and turn on V-SYNC.

D. Click OPTIONS > VIDEO > ADVANCED and set VIEW DISTANCE to LOW.

FRAME RATE LOCKED AT 60 FPS

There are two solutions available:

A. REMOVE THE FRAME RATE CAP:

1. Open Windows Explorer or File Explorer from the taskbar.
2. Open the Local Disk (C:).
3. Open the folder Users then the folder of your Windows username.
4. Open the folder AppData (*) > Local.
5. Open the folder AVGame > Saved > Config > WindowsNoEditor.
6. Right click on the file Engine.ini and click Edit.
7. Add the following two lines at the bottom:

[/script/engine.engine]
bSmoothFrameRate=false

OR

B. LOCK THE FRAME RATE TO 120/144 FPS:

1. Open Windows Explorer or File Explorer from the taskbar.
2. Open the Local Disk (C:).
3. Open the folder Users then the folder of your Windows username.
4. Open the folder AppData (*) > Local.
5. Open the folder AVGame > Saved > Config > WindowsNoEditor.
6. Right click on the file GameUserSettings.ini and click Edit.
7. Set FrameRateLimit to the desired frame rate, for example:

120.000000 for 120 FPS or 144.000000 for 144 FPS

(*) The AppData folder is a hidden folder by default. To view this folder:

- Open Windows Explorer from the taskbar.
- Click Organize > Folder and search options.
- Click the tab View and check Show hidden files, folders and drives under Hidden files and folders from Advanced Settings.
- Click OK.

WINDOWS 8/10
- Open File Explorer from the taskbar.
- Click the tab View and check Hidden items.

NO VOICE DURING DIALOGUES

Following your audio setup (speakers or headset):

SOLUTION A:
1. Right click on Speakers (bottom right) > Open Sound settings.
2. Select your device under Choose your output device and click Troubleshoot.
3. If asked, please turn off all sound effects and audio enhancements.
4. Run the game and check.

SOLUTION B:
1. Right click on Speakers (bottom right) > Spatial sound (Off).
2. Select Windows Sonic for Headphones.
3. Run the game and check.

CANNOT START THE GAME ANYMORE

Please delete manually the configuration settings:

1. Open Windows Explorer or File Explorer from the taskbar.
2. Open the Local Disk (C:).
3. Open the folder Users then the folder of your Windows username.
4. Open the folder AppData (*) > Local.
5. Open the folder AVGame > Saved > Config.
6. Delete the folder WindowsNoEditor.

(*) The AppData folder is a hidden folder by default. To view this folder:

WINDOWS 7
- Open Windows Explorer from the taskbar.
- Click Organize > Folder and search options.
- Click the tab View and check Show hidden files, folders and drives under Hidden files and folders from Advanced Settings.
- Click the button OK.

WINDOWS 8/10
- Open File Explorer from the taskbar.
- Click the tab View and check Hidden items.

RESTORING A SAVE FILE

Vampyr performs automatically a backup of your savegame.

1. Open Windows Explorer or File Explorer from the taskbar.
2. Open the Local Disk (C:).
3. Open the folder Users then the folder of your Windows username.
4. Open the folder AppData (*) > Local.
5. Open the folder AVGame > Saved > SaveGames.

Example:

GameSave_Slot0.sav => corrupted save file
GameSave_Slot0_Backup.sav => backup file

Delete the file GameSave_Slot0.sav and rename GameSave_Slot0_Backup.sav by GameSave_Slot0.sav.

NOTE: the game saves every two minutes so restoring a save file may not resolve every issue.

HOW TO REPORT A PROBLEM TO THE TECHNICAL SUPPORT

To report a technical issue or a crash to the Technical Support team for investigation with the Vampyr QA team:

A. PROVIDE A SYSTEM INFORMATION REPORT (REQUIRED):

1. Press the keys Windows Start (bottom left) and 'R' from the keyboard to open the Run dialog box and type: MSINFO32
2. Click OK.
3. Click System Summary (upper left).
4. Click File then Export....
5. Enter a file name (from File name:) and save the file.
6. Close System Information.
7. Right click on the file and click Send To > Compressed (zipped) folder.

B. PROVIDE THE CRASH DUMP (FOLLOWING THE ISSUE):

1. Open Windows Explorer or File Explorer from the taskbar.
2. Open the Local Disk (C:).
3. Open the folder Users then the folder of your Windows username.
4. Open the folder AppData (*) > Local.
5. Open the folder AVGame > Saved > Logs.

Find the most recently modified folder.
Right click on this folder and click Send To > Compressed (zipped) folder.

C. PROVIDE THE SAVEGAME (FOLLOWING THE ISSUE):

1. Open Windows Explorer or File Explorer from the taskbar.
2. Open the Local Disk (C:).
3. Open the folder Users then the folder of your Windows username.
4. Open the folder AppData (*) > Local.
5. Open the folder AVGame > Saved > SaveGames.
