Community Translation
Hi everyone !

Currently, our awesome community has already translated the game in German, Korean, Russian, Chinese, Hungarian and Spanish.
We are personally taking care of the French and English localization.

If people are interested to work on other language integration, you can also start to do it. We want to have lots of different languages possible for the game, but can’t take part in all of them at the moment since the text of the game is likely to change, so if you want to start working on it and imply yourself in the development, you are welcome to do so, it will fasten our future work. :)

The files are located in the "Localization" folder of the game installation folder.
The english_xml.pak is the original one.
You can open the .pak file using WinRar or WinZip (it is in fact a simple .zip renamed) then open any XML files with Excel 2003+ Edition.

The files that needs to be modified are:

-text_ui_activeskills.xml
-text_ui_creatures.xml
-text_ui_gameplay.xml
-text_ui_housing.xml
-text_ui_ingame.xml
-text_ui_loot.xml
-text_ui_menus.xml
-text_ui_passiveskills.xml
-text_ui_player.xml
-text_ui_quests.xml
-text_ui_world.xml

Once opened, only use the "current file configuration", do not upgrade the file thanks to the newer Excel version ect.
The first column is the "key" we are using from the game code.
The second column is the actual text in English.
The third column is the one used by the game, so it is the one needed to be translated and the only one you should change.

We made a color code for the text, green is the 'old' lines, orange are the new ones. This helps you and us seeing directly which string just has been added.

Thank you very much for your great work!

Maybe you could make this discussion a sticky so that everyone can easily find it. Make it something like "Post the spelling mistakes you find here!".

Also, I don't know if it's possible for you guys, but maybe you could copy all text in the game somewhere or send it to a native English speaker so that everything can be corrected faster.

One more thing - since you are French I assume you will be using English and not American English.
another way to go is perhaps publishing the text files so the community can directly edit them. Then again, this is giving away some of the assets to the public.

Eitherway, I concur, make this a pinned thread so it is easier to keep track of. Have you guys thought about eventually allowing community translations?
Hi!
We will provide you the source file within the day ;)
that's cool! I don't know what format this comes in, but a protected PDF could be very convenient for making comments. That's what we use at work.
Here is a file including currently implemented game's text :

You need to open it with Excel.
Alternate version using ods. Once open, only use the "current file configuration", do not upgrade the file thanks to the newer Excel version ect.
The first column if the "key" we are using from the game code.
the second column is the actual text.
The third column is a copy paste of the second one.

If people are interested to work on other language integration, such as german localization, you can also start to do it. We plan to have several localization for the game, but it may come later since we cannot start to fully work on it since the game don't have enough text at the moment. So if you want to start working on it, you are welcome to do so, it will fasten our future work :)

that's great. I am going to have a look at it later. Do you want us to just point errors, or provide suggestions for rephrasing as well (where applicable)?
Rephrasing to make it looks good willbe great !
Hm I don't have Excel so that's me out of spellchecking... Have fun Squidcake :D
i don't have a license at home either. I will have at look at it during break at work.

Just to be clear Dany, do I just make corrects in the third column? (Translated text)

For all the people that do not have an Exel licence at home, there is always the possibility of using OpenOffice Calc. I do believe it does read .ods formats and it's completely open source.

Dunno if I'm allowed to link it here - Just type in "openoffice" in google. And don't forget to save it in the same format.

@Dany:
thx for the file
German is coming ;)
I am having a look at a list right now. Dany. Line 174 reads Soul R*ape (which is likely a skill). That is a very risky name for a skill, haha :). I already see people posting builds centring around raping enemy souls.

The only minor issue that i'm having while doing this at work. is that i'm missing context. As in, I am not always sure in what context these phrases are being used in the game. So it might sound off.

Edit:

Have a look, this is just a first skim through. There is still a lot of room for improvement of course. See what you guys think, if you think it's ok, you could implement the changes in a later patch and have the community take a look at in ingame.

I'm also not sure if i corrected the text in the proper format (only edited the xml file btw), I simply edited the text in the third column. I have kept a copy of the changes, so I can easily copy paste them again if something was done wrong

What about Dutch localization? Welcome to give it a shot or should I not bother to even translate it?
i'm a dutch speaker as well. If you have some translation available, maybe you could sif it through to me as well? Although I never play games in Dutch though, they tend to sound ridiculous :)

I assume they mean Soul Reap or perhaps Soul Reaper.
