I cannot stress how much I don't want my basic attack and move command on the same button.
I'm fine and dandy with left click being how I move around.
I'm also fine and dandy with assigning an active skill to left click, should I click on an enemy.
I'm fine with both of those things being true at the same time.

But I really, really, do NOT want my basic attack and move command on the same button, and as far as I can tell, I can't remap either of those.
I want to be able to fire a regular arrow, or swing my sword, or whatever without clicking directly on an enemy. I want to be able to have my cursor in the middle of an enemy group, or behind them, or wherever, and attack instead of moving, especially with a bow. As it is right now if I'm a pixel off of clicking an enemy I just run around instead of attacking, and it's very annoying.

The natural suggestion to go with this is to make the basic attack function like other active skills, in that you can map it to whichever slot you want.
Likewise any active skill should be able to be assigned to left click.

Do you know that holding shift while you click, you attack without moving? Like in every other ARPG game btw.

No, I did not know that, and frankly it doesn't matter.
We should be able to (basic) attack without moving without needing to hold shift to do it.

The basic attack should function the same as all the other active skills, in that we should be able to assign it to any skill slot, and likewise we should be able to assign any skill to left click.

Most players want their melee attack to move them towards the monster if they're not in range. Use shift when you want to stay still.

However, left click to move (not attack) should be an option.

You shouldn't even be using basic attacks if you build right.

If i lose my shift i dont run cause my cursor is on the target i was hitting. When i loose shift it should registring that im attacking.

Try this. If you keep left msb pushed then you keep moving right? The moment an enemy runs in on your cursor then you start attacking. Forced move should get prio command on lmb instead of attacking. Then our problems are fixed.

Or give an option to lock the zoom in camera or remove the bind from it. Then its fixed aswell.

If you have that this game is almost perfect for me. But instead of playing im trying to get arround it with gaming software etc...

Unless your build is based around autoattacking :D

Stop clicking on enemies while moving around if you don't want to attack?

might be worth mentioning, you can disable the autodash mechanic which contributes to melee combat feeling kinda weird

on the far left of the action bars there's a toggle; set it to red to prevent the game using dash to get within range of enemies. unfortunately this setting doesn't save so you have to reset it each login.

Then it may not be an effective build.

Sure, sure, then that whole "class tree" that is based around auto attacking is all in my mind. Got it. Thanks.

I mean, tbh you should just listen to his advice instead of being so dismissive. It's going to feel clunky if you don't know certain hotkeys.
