I cannot emphasize this enough, the amount of games that just make it a massive hindrance is ridiculous - break the mold!
Durability is a way to make the players work for keeping their awesome gear - so if you care about your holy purple tanto just spend the scraps and repair it ;D
I dont know how much crafting is good for the game.
But crafting to defend the own faction?

Iam not sure about that. NETHER had Savezones.
Snipers where waiting near by Savezone and killed people after leaving it.
