It's a shame as it seems there's a decent game in there somewhere.
I use Proton-6.4-GE-1 with PROTON_NO_ESYNC=1 %command% and also you need to download this : https://community.pcgamingwiki.com/files/file/87-the-bards-tale-2005-windowed-mode/
Hope it helps.
I finally got round to testing and no sadly the bug persists.
Very easy way to reproduce it:
- Summon a creature.
- Re-open the summon menu and select the creature again to un-summon it.
- Move the left stick as you do this.
Your character will be stuck moving forward, the un-summon starts but never completes, the creature remains in the game but you cannot un-summon it or summon anything else, nor change weapons or much else, because the game still thinks you’re part-way through un-summoning and won’t let you do anything until it finishes, which never happens.
It’s sad that both the Linux and Windows versions of this game are broken and unplayable due to input issues, whether on Steam Deck or a Windows PC. A real shame.
