About the shield
Today I finally figured out how to get the shield. However, there are problems:

* Getting it is inaccurate. When you want to get it, it's a game of luck whether picking the shield is being detected or not. And then it's already game over.

* I hit the controller against the vive glasses multiple times. That's a problem, nobody want's that.

So in short: The movement behind your back for picking up the shield is bad. So please create another means of getting the shield, maybe like you do with the other weapons.

Thank you very much for your consideration. Game is awesome and one of the best for the Vive so far.

Hi Joe,

We will be improving the shield detection in one of the next release cycles. We've found multiple possible solutions. Stay tuned... ;-)
Thanks for your comment.

shield? there is a shield?
Chris Hanney May 11, 2016 @ 11:09pm
The shield is located on your back.

To grab it, reach over your shoulder with your controller to the bottom of your neck, as though the shield is strapped to your back.

Kind of like this guy:

Also to note:
In the main Space Pirate Trainer menu we have an option so that you only change to shield when you are pressing the "grip"-button.
This prevents accidentally getting your shield when you're in the middle of a heavy fight and your holding the gun close to your head/shoulder.

Yes, but it is inaccurate and doesn't work all the time. Especially not when you're in a heavy fight.

Looking forward to the changes that QuarkCannon mentioned. I hope it's a 1-button-solution.

It will not be a one button solution, just a better and more solid way of detecting that you want your shield. The buttons will be used for cooler stuff... ;-)

Thanks, but please not with the movement of the hand to the head / back. It's really annoying to smash the controller against the vive glasses ;-)

I noticed that problem already when playing bow & arrow shooting games. You end up holding the bow sideways.

Also: Exciting! Bring it on :-D

How are you doing it at all? I wanted to show the game to a friend yesterday and the f*ing shield didn't come out when I moved my hand to the back and pressed either of the grip buttons. It's f*ing annoying. It worked before.

If you haven't already: Could you consider adding some sort of tactile feedback when the controller is in postion to grab the shield? I have been missing my grabs as well. Hot Dogs, Horseshoes & Hand Grenades have similar grab areas and their method works pretty well, despite using multiple activation (snap) area's.

i found if you reach the controller behind your lower back from the side it changes to the shield more consistently and is less dangerous for your gear.
