S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Call of Pripyat

S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Call of Pripyat

How does this compare to SoC? Does is run the same as well?
The gameplay looks similar. In the first one I felt like I was always on the run in the second half. Moving between cover and getting my butt kicked by mercs. Are you more dominant in this one, or does it provide the same challenge? Is it as atmospheric? Scary?

My old macbook runs SoC fine. I run it with Windows XP, 2.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 2GB ram, and a Geforce 8600m GT. You guys think CoP will be alright?

I appreciate any feedback!

It generally presents the same challenge. One thing that's different though is that, because the maps are much larger, the game feels less populated than SoC. It' also less linear than SoC, so you won't get the same sense of aggressive advancement that you got toward the end of SoC.

The difficulty spikes are based more around specific locations in the large maps than it is about directed progression.

The sawmill, the radio building, the end game fight, these all provide significant challenge on their own but they are also less consistent.

Also, Call of Pripyat is significantly more resource intensive than Shadow of Chernobyl.

Glad I purchased CoP. The gameplay offers a lot more freedom so far. I haven't been getting my butt kicked all over the place and I'm not constantly looking for cover like in the first one (unless I'm already in a firefight). There are a lot more neutral people in this game whereas in the first one I felt like everyone wanted my nuts nailed to their mantle.

Plus my old macbook pro runs this fine. I'm running it on medium to avoid fps drops. Once I get a better machine I'd like to max out the settings and take in the sights.

We'll see how the rest of the game goes. I just got to Pripyat. I hope it's just as fun as the game has been so far.

The Engine Is Very Different. Shadow Of Chernobyl Was Smooth As Poop Out Of A Ducks Butt Hole All The Time. Call Of Pripyat Runs Slower For Me, Mostly In High NPC Areas Like Skadovsk. But Some People Say It Runs Smoother For Them Than SoC.

As For Gameplay Its Much More Open-World And Exploration Based Instead Of A Set Path Like SOC. Really Fun, Makes The Zone Seem More Like A Real Place And Is Fun Just Rompin Around Searching For Artefacts And Watching NPC Battles Unfold

It Still Has A Story Though But Most Of The Time Its Pretty Open And Explorey

I Definitely Reccommend Giving It A Go Its A Great Game One Of My Favorite Games Of All Time
