Can't play Co-op (solved)

So me and my friend tried to do co-op mode. We've been waiting for this feature for a long time, used the unofficial mod, all worked great.

Now to the Beta version...oh boy...
I've made the house for my friend, I managed to load in my game, my friend can't join.
My settings don't have the friend invite code, the game invite in steam is not there.
I've tried to reinstall, opt out of beta, opt into beta again, verify files, turn off my security options in windows. NOTHING WORKS!
My friend has the right options screen with friend invites, I get his invites but I can't join.

Why can a mod make it so bleeping easy to join eachother and play together but a game that made more than 30 million dollars, can't get multiplayer going?
I was already concerned when I heard the developer didn't want to have other people helping him, then hearing how the multiplayer was finished but he wanted to polish it a couple of weeks more to get it really working.

GUESS WHAT! It doesn't bleeping work!
I'm normaly not the person to rage, but this makes no bleeping sense! Why can one person have all the files, while the other who has the same files not join him in multiplayer?

My NAT settings are open, his is closed but we can still play multiplayer games when I host it.
I've tried everything that might bleep it up, nothing works.
How can this happen? how can someone not have all the files working while others have?

His wife booted up the game, and she has all the proper menu items for multiplayer, he has all the proper settings aswel.
How is it possible, while I'm in the beta, have everything set so someone can join, that this bug is here? It makes no bleeping sense!

Bleep this bleeping bleep, get your bleeping bleep together concerned ape, let people help with your bleeping work, and don't be too proud to let someone help on something as complicated as multiplayer.
Get your act together and be a bleeping professional, you've made more money with this one game than many other companies have!

My apologies for this rant, but if a gamedeveloper with a game this big can't do something like this, he/she/they shouldn't act like this if people are jumping to help out.

funny thing is, if I select join on the co-op screen, the option to enter an invite code doesn't even show up
It's like the Devs just allowed the Multiplayer to be played by randomly selected people
I was excited for it too...

I mean, this was THE chance for me to finally play with my real life friends together without them laughing at me that my crappy laptop can't handle what they usually play and then the game just cockblocks me.
Meaning: they will make fun of me even more

I got the same problem, on my screen there is only join lan game. There isn't any invite code option

Has your friend opted in for beta? I had to opt in to get any beta stuff. you right click on Stardew Valley on steam game list then properties then change the sentence thingy to opt in for beta and then put jumpingjunimos in the box. I had to do it twice but I think that was my fault.

So this question may be silly if so forgive me. Did you download the new content? I restarted steam just to be sure (I'm weird that way lol) The first time I started there was no coop but after I restarted steam and it loaded I had coop on my page.

The problem isnt us not having coop
it is not being able to join or invite outside of LAN

is this happening to a majority of people? im thinking of having a friend get it for multiplayer, but if it isnt working, ill scrap that.
