Denuvo Discussion Thread
This is to clean up the forum and allow fans to discuss other topics - this is the only thread to be used to discuss Denuvo - please be aware of the rules - any indication that you are encouraging piracy or plan to pirate the game will result in a permanent ban. Abusing other players will also not be tolerated and any posting new threads will result in warnings and a ban if this is repeated.

Please see the forum rules pinned post.

All other threads will be merged into this one.

It is Deep Silver policy to protect our PC games with Denuvo, and we've worked with 4A Games to ensure this will not affect your experience.

Piracy is not the same as stealing things. Both are a crime, but pirates don't go to shops and steal a copy of the game. They copy a game.
So, if they "steal" a game, it's not lost sales or anything. They wouldn't buy it in the first place. A lot of pirates simply don't have the money to pay for the game, and Denuvo can't change that.

Yeah, piracy is theft just like data theft and identity theft. Both examples are theft even though something is only copied.

Then there's theft of service making use of a service without providing the required compensation.

To add it's actually a copy that is being sold.

Also the fact that piracy is called piracy.

or to use non-corporate agit-prop language, piracy is actually just unlicensed usage of software

in days bygone, there were actually demos and shareware version of games ( ah such a noble predispositions. Nearly all have fallen to greed it seems)

For the sake of the reasonable individuals out there:
PC specifications used for that benchmark are slightly better than the average PC Steam users have. https://youtu.be/n_DD-txK9_Q?t=974

Here are the average Steam users' specifications for 2018, done by the official Steam's survey: https://store.steampowered.com/hwsurvey/Steam-Hardware-Software-Survey-Welcome-to-Steam

The average Steam user can and will be negatively affected by Denuvo.

That difference in results between Denuvo and non-Denuvo is huge.

You do release that the rig he is using is causing a massive the GPU to be be massively bottlenecked.

I doubt that you will find many people that will match a GTX 1080 Ti with an i7 2600K.

You are saying that Denuvo is causing the bottleneck. DRM-free verions of the very same games do not cause this "bottleneck", which is run on the same rig, with the same graphics settings, as shown in the video comparison. True, Denuvo does it - your words, not mine. Avoiding Denuvo will prevent this issue. You were saying this this whole time.

didnt the last game that used denuvo get cracked before it released properly ?
Pillwow 23 Jan @ 3:19am
If the game runs better after removing denuvo it does not make his proof false.
Are you people dumb? Did you fall onto the ground head first? Thats not even a strawmen anymore.
Pillwow 23 Jan @ 3:28am
yes. it was Hitman 2
Just Cause 4 D+1
FF15 got cracked before release
FF12 got cracked before release
Soul Calibur 6 D+4
Far Cry 5 D+19

and so on and on and on. Denuvo can be happy that scene groups are not really organised.
Have sent a refund request. I hope that anti-customer policy will hit a Deep Silver's wallet.

Im still gonna buy it but i think denuvo is gonna be removed later on. Also dont give up on a game because of drm, let them know about this by emailing them directly.

Depends how strong you want to send a message. If you cared strongly then i'd say email them and DON'T buy it.
If you don't care then buy it.
I'm not buying it. Personal preference no rant.
Its what ever you want to do dude :). Also i do care about the whole drm thing but i think later on there gonna remove it in a later patch. Who knows.

You still haven't replied about if Denuvo will be removed in the future. And you do not protect your PC games, there is no evidence that piracy amounts for sales loss. The Witcher 3 did great without Denuvo, why wouldn't Metro Exodus, one of the most anticipated games of the year?
Another game I cannot purchase. When will these companies learn?

OH...and where are the system reqs?! Game comes out in two weeks and they are just sitting on it trying to get as many pre orders as they can. Really sad to see 4A go down this path.
