[SOLVED] Xbox360 Controller Troubles
With my Xbox360 controller everything was perfect with game version 1.004.
Now with game version 1.007 it's almost unplayable. It's almost always shooting in a random direction even when I'm not touching any button or stick.

Can you please fix this again?

My OS is Ubuntu 14.04.

The game needs deadzone settings for controllers.

It used to have them but they took them out in the latest patch. I bet we can get them to put it back in. The devs are very responsive to stuff like this.

I made a post about it on the official forums.

Same kind of problem here, on Windows 7 64 pro. Yesterday play was fine, today it's acting like there is no deadzone at all. Feels kind of like the old "hippo on ice", but with added flame thrower!

I thought something was wrong with my controller when I first loaded it up but I'm seeing the exact same problem. Its near impossible to play!

Yeah, unfortunately the overhaul of the input system that the devs did to fix the issues with XboxOne controllers, has left a couple of things that need some attention. Have no fear, I expect these issues will be fixed very quickly.

just to throw in my two cents, I'm using OSX El Capitan and am having difficulties rebinding my xbox 360 controller. whenever i try to bind the left trigger, whatever i've bound it to can't be changed to anything else (except the analog sticks if i do it very fast) and if i try to bind another control, it will also be bound to analog 4 (which i am assuming is the left trigger). in fact, the reason i needed to rebind is that the default inputs weren't being recognized (had to change A to Button 13, etc). since it is apparently an unofficial version, i will mention i'm using version 0.15 of this driver: https://github.com/d235j/360Controller/ any help is appreciated!

Coming up in 1.008: https://arcengames.com/mediawiki/index.php?title=Starward_Rogue:Post-1.0_Release_Notes#Version_1.008

* The game now uses a scaled radial dead zone of 0.25 for all analog input thumbsticks, which means that they should all "just work" now.
** This is the same as they had prior to us moving to the more recent InControl asset, which was using 0.2 instead and was using an inferior algorithm.
** This in particular should patch up the XBox 360 controllers that are a little worn. If any of them still have trouble, then there are now sliders inside the main Game tab of the settings window that allow you to adjust these to the needs of your particular controller.

Thanks!

Since 1.008, are any of you still hitting this type of issue?

I'm currently still having problems, but my set up is a PS3 Controller under OSX. I checked with a couple of other games that have Controller Support and it works without a problem, In fact I didn't have to do any sort of rebindings, callabratiion, etc.

It might be a case that the Unity engine doesn't support PS3/OSX combination, but can anyone else confirm this?

i'm still having most of the issues mentioned in my previous comment, but i'll try to put it in a bit better format.

1) the default gamepad controls with icons don't work (except the left analog stick)
2) these controls can be rebound to make them work, but it uses button 13, 14, etc instead of icons
3) trying to bind the right analog stick to shoot resulted in firing constantly with no way to stop
4) binding the trigger to any command results in it getting "stuck" in place- if you try to bind a key after using one of the triggers, it will always bind to the trigger you used (analog 4 or 5). restarting the game fixes this and you can go on binding normally, but if one of the triggers is used in game it will become stuck as well (resulting in permanent running or firing)

as i mentioned in my previous comment, i'm on osx el capitan, and as such have had to use an "unofficial" update of my controller driver for compatability. installing a more recent version now, will update soon

UPDATE: i tried updating to the most recent version of my driver, then tried disabling the driver to let the game access my controller directly. still had the issue both times, no change. @lessster's suggestion about reverting to defaults would be really helpful in this case

Is there a way to reset all custom gamepad bindings to their original defaults?
Sounds Jan 27, 2016 @ 10:31pm
Yes. If you go to the install directory and delete the inputbindings.dat file.

Also I had to turn of cloud sync for this game to get it to work as it kept overridding my new changes.

The inputbindings.dat and inputbindings.bat files in the RuntimeData folder of the game are what have the data on this. If you delete those, then it resets the controls automatically. These are also something you can open in TextEdit or similar and edit by hand if you want.

Another thing you might try is looking in the Extras tab of settings and turn on the debug raw input for the controller. Then just try pressing some buttons and see what happens in the upper left. If it's sticky on certain buttons or all of them, or what.

Can you point me to the exact drivers you're using for the PS3 controller on osx? I can grab out one of my PS3 controllers and give it a shot. Are you using usb or bluetooth, or how are those connecting? I've never tried using those controllers with a computer before, so I want to make sure I'm duplicating what you are doing.

If you don't also delete inputbindings.bat, then that also will override.

...

I concur with the first 3.

Number 4 I've not encountered it.

As I mentioned in my case I'm using a PS3/OSX combination, but from what you've just listed it appears to be the same issue regardless of whether it's a PS3 or Xbox controller. :(

Hence I've re-opened the the issue on the developers bug-tracker. FIngers crossed they can get it to work soon.

The games great with keyboard, but with a controller it just clicks for me.
