DJI FPV Rates and Thro††łe
I'd like to use Liftoff to better prepare, before going wild in manual mode with DJI FPV.

I download the DJI FPV drone from a workshop https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2420432740 . I'm using the DJI FPV controller.

My rates set in goggles to fly with the real drone are as follows:
Category: Center sensitivity, Max rate, Expo
Roll: 150, 420, 0.5
Pitch: 150, 420, 0.5
Yaw: 140, 400 0.5

But, in-game the configuration is way more complex, there are 7 fields (P, I, D, RC Rate, Super, Max, RC Expo) per each category. I'm not exactly sure, how this calculator can help me https://www.desmos.com/calculator/r5pkxlxhtb .

Additionally, the throttle stick doesn't behave the same. In a real drone, throttle at 25% is already moving the drone up, but in-game it is above the centre point.

Could you help me set it so it really mimics my real drone? I want to develop good muscle therefore I need the game behave as the real device or at least very similar.

Hey NeedForChris!

Currently, Liftoff is using Betaflight rates only (PIDs are something else, you don't have to touch them except if you experience things like bounceback, oscillations and such). We are currently working on adding Actual Rates, which, if I'm not mistaken, is the type of rate also used by DJI. This will be released in an upcoming update. For now though, you have to use some type of conversion.

That's where the calculator you linked will be useful. For each axis (Roll, Pitch, Yaw), you can enter your DJI tune. For instance, for roll, you'd input:

Actual Rates - Centre Rate: 150
Actual Rates - Max Rate: 420
Actual Rates - Expo = 0.5

Then, you move the Betaflight RC_Rate, Betaflight S_Rate, Betaflight Expo until both curves displayed on the screen match as well as possible. For this example, I found that these values were very close:

Betaflight RC_Rate: 0.73
Betaflight S_Rate: 0.65
Betaflight Expo: 0

Then, you take these values, and input them in Liftoff's flight controller settings. RC_Rate = rate, S_Rate = Super Expo, Expo = Expo.

This convoluted tool is used because there's no direct and precise way to convert rates from betaflight to actual rates. But, again, in the future, Liftoff will support actual rates and you'll be able to simply input your DJI rate in the game.

We are working on a throttle curve customization tool that is currently only on the experimental branch. For now, in flight controller settings, putting a higher number in the MID input field might help getting the hover point lower.

I'd be more concerned on what you will do once you start crashing the dji fpv drone...if you are serious about that stuff you have to buy a drone that's made for crashing and doing wild stuff with....

I have over 200 hours in this sim all in this year basically...and I still crash and make mistakes more often then I'd like...but that's FPV and freestyle..

just saying first bad crash you have with the dji and you are done for a little while....if this sim teaches you one thing it's crashing is a real thing while flying...in the sim you crash 1000s of times...in real life it only takes one to ruin your day.

Titan Iflight - has GPS and everything...plus you can crash it over and over and over and keep flying :) to an extent lol

I learned acro on liftoff and am getting pretty decent and I dont fly my DJI FPV proximity at all and never plan too. It doesn't take crashes well and thats just bound to happen flying proximity. Its fun going up 200m and doing acro and all the stuff I do in the sim but If I mess up I can just hit the brake button.

Hi guys, I'm a beginner and I've found this difficulty: I can't understand if the rates set by default on the controller and the liftoff rates are real. Do I need to change something?
