The difficult decision I'm always faced with is, "Do I release this now/soon and wind up giving folks a broken and half finished mess, or wait until I am certain what I will release is worth everyone's time?"
That being said, you can always see what's on offer in the current development build of the game if you're curious (play at your own risk of course).
You can find the latest build in your Groupees account page for the game, or go here:
http://gamejolt.com/games/savage-the-shard-of-gosen-alpha/16310
As soon as I have a hard release date, I'll post an announcement in the news section here on Steam, and everywhere else! Again, thanks for being patient!
Savage must be one of the few greenlight titles I was really waiting for (exoplanet being another one). I do understand your caution about the release though.
Games rarely get a second chance when they mess their initial release.
A game broken at release will face great challenges to convince buyers to take a chance in the future. Slain! sure knows about that.
Take your time and make savage as awesome as we hope it will be.
I'll post an update as soon as the new build is ready to play! This will be a rather large one, so I'm making sure everything works before pushing it out (includes things like aspect ratio adjustment, full mouse and keyboard support, allowing the player to remap all controls across their chosen interface method -- and all the rest of the new enemies and quest/story content shown in the livestreams and shared in previous work updates).
Still a good few months of work left for the final release -- I'll post a news update here on Steam and all of the other usual channels as soon as there's something new to share (as well as impending details about release, etc.)!
Will keep looking forward to release.
I dont get it
I don't know about any of that, but I can tell you that I have not released Savage: The Shard of Gosen anywhere because I have not finished it yet. It is certainly taking me longer to complete than I thought it would. I am working hard to bring it up to an enjoyable experience and something that's worth the wait!
Kickstarter backers have been issued in-development Steam keys that give them access to early builds and will unlock the full game when it is released. Groupees Greenlight Bundle folks have been issued Steam keys that will unlock when the game is released, and also have access to the same development build via the Groupees Savage product page.
If you're curious about development, there are oodles of blog posts detailing all the features, music production, artwork, etc. that I'm putting into the game posted here on Steam and elsewhere, as well as Twitch development streams and Youtube videos -- and more to come as I get closer to completion!
I have Downloaded the latest build/demo and have to say.....THIS GAME KICKS ASS & TAKE MY MONEY!!!!!!
Hey Lifell -- I appreciate that! Sorry for the lack of proper news posts - I somehow get it into my head that my written updates need to be big and juicy, which makes for a lack of smaller posts. Either way, working away on new monsters/enemies and the remaining levels and stage design (including finishing up crafting systems).
Hope to have a said "big and juicy" news post up in the next week or two. Getting close
