Game crashes on OSX 10.8.2
Crashes when you try to start first level, USB gamepad also doesn't control the menu.

I'm running latest mountain lion.

Same again, gamepad registers directional buttons as A/B and game crashes on cutscene of the first level.

Any help would be appreciated.

Yea, that doesn't work, although I did figure out how to make the game bigger. Mountain Lion doesn't give you the option to mess with the performance of the graphics card. I'm on a new i7 mac mini with SSD, intel 4000, and 16gb fwiw.

Super Meat World works, just the regular world crashes. It's annoying. It's also annoying having to use a keyboard mapper to get the controls to work...and the ever so slight loss of control is a big deal in such a hard precise game.

The pirate version works although this is not an acceptable solution as leaderboards are and essential part of the experience. Pretty grrrrrr that the pirate version actually works but the steam one doesn't. I never use pirate copies unless the paid version I buy doesn't work for some reason (Like Tiger Woods wanting me to have a CD in when my computer doesn't have a cd rom drive).

I only registered for steam so I could buy this particular game. Not a good experience so far. I mostly game on ios, and at least there is a modicum of QA going on there.

I hear you. I was waiting for the game to come out on Mac first because I was using a Mac Mini at the time and they took so long to port that I got a Windows laptop in that time. I got the game and it worked, thought I had to create this account even though I got the game on disc (DRM free, yeah). I was thinking about downloading the game on the Mac but after reading the terrible job they did with the port, I just stayed with the Windows version. I'm probably not getting other games from them.

Same here. The game starts perfect. But when I try to start a new game, it crashes everytime.

For me, the game is crashing between levels, without warning. Sometimes OS X catches the crash, sometimes the process goes zombie and just hangs around, neither crashed nor functional, chewing up CPU cycles. I hate to say this, but this is one of the worst OS X ports I've ver seen. It drops frames, eats most of the CPU cycles on one core, and runs in 16:9 letterbox in a 4:3 window (with no full screen option). It's just lazy.

Mac OS 10.8.2 on macbook pro late 2011 (system requirements might have been nice on the purchase page...)
Runs really well when it actually runs, crashes at seemingly random intervals. Can even take a few attempts to get started.
Its a shame they couldn't be bothered to make it vaguely stable as its an awesome game.

such a good game you'd have thought that they'd make a half decent mac port, i have the same problem. I cant even open the first level. Im running 10.8.2

The game crashes whenever I try to exit to map. Can they patch the game or something?

Mac port was made in about three days by Tommy after they guys Team Meat hired to do the port miserably failed. This was right after they had finished PC version, which they immediately started working on after the game launched on XBLA. So given the circumstances, I'm willing to excuse Tommy for the Mac port. Yes, it doesn't work on 10.8.xyz but remember that Mountain Lion came out AFTER Super Meat Boy was ported to Mac.

I beat the game on Mac and it was glitchy and didn't run as smoothly as on PC so I think I am in a position to say what I just said. I know I would be disappointed if the game didn't run on the version of OSX I'm using and I'm sorry for all of you who can't play the game. But the fact is, complaining isn't going to change anything, Tommy stated in a recent State Of Play interview that he doesn't want to have anything to do with the Mac version ever again.
