Submit your achivement suggestions!
I'm working on implementing Steam achievements, in the spirit of better late than never. I have ideas for what some should be, but I'd love to hear suggestions. Bonus points for creativity.

Edit:
Sorry guys, my baby daughter was born right around the time I released DarkMaus, and I grossly underestimated the impact that would have on my life. I developed DarkMaus entirely in my free time, and that's kindof non-existent these days.

- Kill certain boss with certain kind of weapon
- Kill last boss/hunter with basic sword
- Kill 8 spiders in one sweep

Beat Zarristar with all types of weapons(can be done on different chars)
Beat the game without using healing items
Beat the game without the use of a shield
And there could be a "Weapon master" achivement, where you would need to kill a certain amount of enemies with any weapon, and you would receive the achivement for that weapon, for example, if you kill that amount of enemies with a greatsword, you would receive the "greatsword master". And also, if you could win the achivements of all the weapons, you would receive the "Weapon master" or something like that :P

Something regarding npcs, or killing bosses with their weapons. Or one for killing a certain amount of enemies at once

Something like completing the game in a certain time amount, or killing a certain boss without taking damage would be cool :)

Okay, so, I don't own the game (yet). However, I know that it was strongly influenced/inspired by Dark Souls, which I love, so I'm going to throw out a couple of ideas anyway - just know that I may say some unintentionally stupid things because of my limited knowledge of the game. ;)

- Beat the game without dying/without the help of your own ghosts. Y'know, for the ultra high achievers.
- Beat the game having helped/interacted with all/none of the NPCs. Not sure which combination here would be best for an achievement, so take your pick.
- Beat the game on NG+.
- Defeat any boss with the help of 6+ ghost allies. The number may need to be changed by someone who's actually played the game, though - my idea behind this achievement is to have one for receiving help rather than being a phenomenal player all by your lonesome, so whatever works best for that.
- Die 50 times. So we can brag about how bad we are, sort of in the spirit of the second Dark Soul's "Die for the first time" achievement.
- Kill 75-150 enemies. Not really sure what the best number would be, but somewhere in that range.

Okay, out of ideas. Nothing particularly revolutionary, but hey, what's the harm in throwing a few ideas out there? By the way, the game looks awesome, and I'm very excited to play it! Being a hobbyist game programmer myself, it's very inspiring to see projects like this get made and then released.

Really? Thinking about it, I suppose that does make sense - instead, maybe the achievement could simply be having help from 6+ ghost allies at the same time.

i think there should be an acheivement to beat the game without using any campfires.
or at least get a cool unuique item for it

another good one would be completing "the dark pact" so like.... beating the game by accepting zarristars orders and killing everyone, same with the normal ending, being a hero. then another for not talking or helping anyone. idk. its an idea.

Hardcore
Complete the game without any campfires.

Patchy
Kill 5 spiders with one attack

Strongest Weapon
Fully Upgrade a weapon

Reach (Zone)
Once the player has hit a major milestone zone in the game

You also could do achievements based around certain boss defeats
Defeat (Boss)

Also should definetly be an achievement for giving the ball back to the mouse children in Anna's town.

I don't have any particular achievement input that hasn't already been said, but I would like to say I hope there won't be any time-based achievement(s) (for completing the game). Speedrunning is fun to watch, not so much to do. When I see speedrun achievements for games I like it makes me cry a little.

Don’t have the game yet (partially ‘cause I’m waiting for those achievements), so can’t give you specific examples, but maybe my thoughts would help other people to come up with them. Okay, I think there are roughly four types of achievements:

First, we have unmissable story achievements. You get them after finishing level/zone, whole game, and doing main plot related stuff.

Second, let’s call them quest achievements. Those are your “kill X enemies”, “win this minigame Y times”, “walk Z steps”, etc. Collectibles are part of those, too.

Third, secret achievements. “Find hidden cave”, “gather clues and find treasure”, “do this obscure quest-thing”, etc. Something you don’t need to do to progress in game, but cool to find. Easter eggs are here, also.

And last, let’s call them hard task achievements. Here you can have “finish game on hard difficulty”, “finish NG+”, “kill any boss without taking damage”, “kill X tough enemies with weak weapon”, stuff like that.

So (and this is just my gut feeling), just by finishing the game you would get 40—60% of all achievements: all story ones, majority of quest ones and couple from secret and hard task ones. If you go out of your way to find/do them, then one playthrough will bring you to 70—90%: you will do a lot from secret and hard task achievements. Everything else is really hard and/or requires multiple playthroughs.

You can ignore proportions, of course, or even whole types. You can say, that game is already hard, and don’t do hard task achievements. Or make all achievements optional (no unmissable achievements), by including only secret, hard task, and more obscure or difficult quest achievements.
