Meteor hit the sleeping room
In my current game I started at the first planet there was a particular nasty meteor, who smashed directly into my only sleeping room and killing 18 of my 27 colonists and with that all of my biologists. I just wanna know what chance there is for that thing to happen. '-'

Yes it could happen again. I have had it a few times. I do hope you built a landing pad so that you can get more people in. Once you get a lazer built you should be ok.

Good luck.

That was very unlucky. In an early game I had a meteor hit my only airlock. I sat and throught about that for a couple of minutes.

If there are meteors, build a small dorm and only fill half of it. Since the colonists share the bunks, you can get away with that for quite a long time. Then build a second dorm and, again, only fill half of it. Until you get your meteor defenses up (which can take take quite a while, because a single telescope only gives you 60% coverage, and only when the telescope is online.)

Honestly it had no huge impact on my game. I admit it killed 2/3 of my colonists but a minute later I got the next colony ship and got some of my biologists back

True, the game doesn't get affected much. You can just take the meteors on the chin, and in the beginning of the game you'll have to anyway, but it does annoy me a bit, because as a personal challenge I try to have as few casualties as possible.

I've had that happen before and what I usually do is look at the time it happened, go back to a prefious save, go up close to that time again because they will always hit at the same time in the same spot and then just turn off that room and they will all leave, let it hit, repair it, turn it back on and let them go back to sleep lol.
2 things
1)move to class F or S there are no meteors there
2)Biuld telescopes and anti meteor lasers and have efficient engineers to operate from control center and whenever it's operated, there is a high chance of the meteor not wrecking anything
A few thoughts on meteorites:
1) it seems that the coordinates of the point where the meteorite falls are not randomly chosen by the game.
Very often, the artificial intelligence of the game selects such a coordinate for a meteorite strike, which the player most often looks at on his screen.
For example, if you very often look at your hostel in the game and hold up the screen on this building, then it is likely that artificial intelligence will choose this building as the next meteorite impact point.

2) the game has a list of coordinates of the next ten points for a meteorite strike.
You can see this list of coordinates by opening a file with saving your game.
If you wish, you can use the cheat, edit the file with the save and change or completely erase the coordinates for meteorites to fall.
But I would not recommend doing this, because in this case, without meteorites, playing becomes too easy.
A link to the guide where it is described how it is possible to edit the file with saving: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=537016058

3) how I would like to improve the game and what to change in meteorites.
It would be nice to make sure that the meteorites do not disappear after the fall, but remain on the map. Meteorites usually contain rare chemicals and metals that are not on this planet.
It would be good to make such an opportunity so that it would be possible to send colonists or bots to the place where the meteorite fell and they could find new useful resources at the place where the meteorite fell.
Adding a similar mod or update to the game would greatly diversify and improve the game.
But it seems that these my wishes will remain only in dreams :-)

In more detail, I painted all the information about meteorites in this guide:
