Prioritize canteen(food problem)
I think it should be implemented to prioritize the canteen so that you can keep people eatting when there is mass trading or moving of bioplastic and metel that will stop the stocking of meal makers and kill your colony even in late stages. the easey fix to this is to make a prioritize on the canteen but there is no option. If this was added then it will make having a base have food stocks and also trade or have mass storge movement.
P.S.:also make a faster fastforword butten maby up to *10 for befy PC like mine thx

Having a few extra things to build in the Canteen might also be interesting..
"Meal (Basic)" implies that the meal maker doesnt have the ability to store multiple items to make more advanced meals. Like perhaps you need to make a slightly larger advanced one. "Autochef" maybe like on the Andromeda TV Show?

+1 I've been stuck with a food issue for the past 4 real world hours. There was a large influx of colonists arriving, I noticed it and built additional bio-domes and canteens, however, for some reason or another, instead of working on creating food, they were either leaving the food boxes that were harvested in the bio-dome and not deliver them, or they would stupidly fill up the bar. I disabled the bar, and they still are not carrying the food to my canteens. So I am not sure what I am doing wrong at this stage. I certainly had enough biologists and workers and engineers to each do their job. Maybe the canteen was too many domes away and they didn't know where to take it? I do enjoy this game so I would like to figure out the workings so I can further progress.

-1 No its fine the way it is. I dont have starvation problems ever because I know how to play the game. If they starve because you're trading too much at once then you should have traded your stuff over the course of many trade ships for money. Money is instant when you need to buy. If your people are tied up moving steel and plastic then you should have more carry bots or more people.

- Switch off your landingpads/starports as long as you got the food crisis. This prevents trading and getting in new colonists.
- Avoid overproduction of starch and vegetables. If you cannot reduce overproduction, then switch off your storages for a while. This way overproduction is not carried around anymore.
- Avoid unhappy colonists, don't ignore their needs.
- Avoid prioritisation of buildings, this can lead to unhappy colonists and overworking.
- Get lots of carrier bots, buy them or build them (my recommendation: at least 25 bots per 100 colonists).
- Get lots of mealmakers (my recommendation: 12 mealmakers per 100 colonists)

Just because you dont have the problem doesnt mean others are going to have the same experience. MANY of us know what to do and how to do it, the game actually doing it is a different story
-1 Canteen mechanics are just fine and the error is within your gameplay as mentioned by others.

If you don't have any automation, expect yourself to need an influx of worker colonists to be required to keep up with filling the meal makers, as well as managing all of the other tasks.

Even this will not be enough as they will eventually become unhappy with having to take the role of carrier bots and refuse to do anything, even restock the meal makers and will do strange things like demand alcoholic drinks instead to bring up their moral.

Carrier bots and NOT prioritizing things helped me out, thanks. The more I play this game the less control I feel I have. It seems that the point of this game is to place objects where the designer intended them to go, and after awhile you see the basic algorithm you need to follow to continue expansion of your colony. I don't feel I have the same freedoms to do what I want as in other survival simulation games.

1.) what is food? vegetables are NOT meals; it is not enough just to store vegetables in your storage
2) you had "tons in storage" - huge overproduction is usually the first step in the starvation circle, large trades is the second step then ...

Let me quote my post from above, this also applies to your problem:
- Switch off your landingpads/starports as long as you got the food crisis. This prevents trading and getting in new colonists.
- Avoid overproduction of starch and vegetables. If you cannot reduce overproduction, then switch off your storages for a while. This way overproduction is not carried around anymore.
