What's with the vagabond visitors?
I have plenty of empty beds. In this one dorm I count 6.

Yet Aarav Webb seems content to sleep in the corridor.

I'm not sure what my guards are doing but they are not doing their job. :steamhappy:

It may seem to you, that the beds are unoccupied, but they were either occupied or already reserved at the moment the visitor was looking for a bed.
And as colonists tend to become tired at the same time, it is good to have more beds than you think you need.
It's possible. I have plenty of beds but not enough for every settler and visitor.

But I noticed this right after an attack. I actually thought this was a corpse. But I had the base on Red Alert which means Guards and Medics were on duty leaving their beds free.

So, I don't think it was a lack of beds. I'm beginning to think that his bar hit zero before he could get to a bed and he just lay down where he was.

I'd just not seen this before but I'm rather new to the game.

The fact that you are giving red alerts suggests to me that you allow intruders to enter your base. There are ways to prevent this from happening: to force all visitors through a heavily guarded control center.

The red alerts should be a last resort for when your guards have been overwhelmed. It makes the colonists attack the intruders with their bare hands.
I'll have to re-read that. I didn't realize it would cause the colonists to fight hand to hand.

I thought red alert just called everyone inside, called all guards and medics to duty and for colonists to grab extra guns.

I'm pretty sure my colonists are using the guns I have stored for them.

But yeah, I do tend to create a kill zone with a Storage joining my air lock and Command Centers branching off of that.

I just hit the red alert whenever I see Visitors exit their ship without them needing anything and so far they've always been hostile.

Some colonists will grab a gun if available, but not all of them. Many will just go at it with their bare hands.

You can funnel the intruders into the control center if you set it up right, they will never get past the guards. (It may require some experimentation.)

Most of the time a yellow alert is enough to fend off intruders, red alert should be used if you expect your guards to fail to repel the attack.

If you get a colonist ship with purple suits, the purple suits are ALWAYS intruders. Immediately start a yellow alert.

Thanks. After @Rigel's suggestion I went back and looked and colonists taking up arms appears to be the only difference between yellow and red.

Colony Ships should never be carrying visitors that alone should queue your reaction instincts.
