How to get one? I have unlocked few of them but how to I get one into my party?

Doing events rewarding reputation increases companion unlock counter (upper right corner, small blue bar under the portrait placeholder).

Once you unlock the slot, an adventurer ship will appear with a quest to pick up your first companion. After you inevitably lose them (or, perhaps, not), you can always check with any white-sailed ships for replacements :)
