Local Multiplayer Mode Experiment
http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=825858149

*This beta was made for fun and as an experiment. It is not a planned feature.

If you want to try something cool during this holiday, please try this small new mode with your bunny lover friends!

Warning: Multiplayer is untested.(We only went through it once.):rbrbr1:

v1.75lm Beta Patch Note

Rules
- Press F1 to add a new player.
- You can only add players at a save point or a heal point.
- Up to 4 players can join.
- Player 1 will be fixed to the keyboard. The other three players will use gamepads 1 to 3.
- Once a player is added. They can only be removed by returning to the main menu.
- Once a player is added. Menu control is restricted to the keyboard.
- In Boss Rush mode, you can only add players during the first 5 seconds.

Differences with Single Player

- Bunny is down at 1 HP instead of 0 HP. Down bunny cannot do anything. Can be revived after other bunny used a heal item.
- Only Player 1 can move to other rooms and start events.
- Changing rooms or Starting Events will revive all bunnies.
- When all bunnies are reached 1HP, its Game Over.
- Bringing up the item/magic menu no longer pauses the game
- Bosses and Enemies have increased HP and Level.
- Non-Boss enemies will deal more damage to players.
- Adding an extra bunny in the game will disable leaderboards for that save forever.

Feel free to post any suggestions and report any bugs to help make it more playable.:rbrbr2:

The mode no one expected or asked for. Would be really neat to see it not only support local, but online play as well someday (wonder if that's even possible with the engine). But it's still in beta, so I shouldn't get too far ahead of myself. Pretty nifty feature though.

Well, Rabi-Rabi Island needs more bunnies anyways so.... :rbrb1:
Oh man I don't know anyone who knows how to play Rabi-Rabi on keyboard so far :( but I feel like messing around with this anyway ahaha, let's do this!
OK trying it right now. I got a DS4 (Dualshock 4, the PS4 controller) + Steam PS4 support to turn it into xinput, and an Xbox360 controller plugged in

1.) even though I plugged in the DS4 first, when I plugged the X360 controller, it became the 1P. After I restarted the game, I can't use the DS4 as my primary controller for Rabi-Ribi. Not sure if there's a windows configuration for this right now, will have to look into it first EDIT: never mind this, after removing devices and stuff I got my DS4 controller back on P1. #2 and #3 still apply though

2.) Whne I tried to play 3 Players, the Dualshock 4 user (Player 3) can only move but no buttons are working

3.) When I activated the 4th player, the Dualshock 4's analog stick moves both Player 3 and 4, but the d-pad only controls player 3. Both still can't use buttons

More stuff:

4.) I guess in general it seems like Rabi-Ribi's still confused on Dualshock 4 controllers. After plugging in the Xbox360 controller as the second controller (Player 3), Player 3 cannot use any buttons. The weird part is that holding down the attack button actually displays your hitbox like you were doing slow movement but you're not getting any slow movement, just the hitbox display. It means that the game IS recognizing the inputs but has no idea what to do with it

5.) And then after inserting a Player 4, DS4 is now controlling Player 2 and Player 4. Same with the behavior above, only player 2 has button inputs, analog stick controls P2 and P4 movement.

6.) Also P2-P4 all die in one hit. What?

Lemme make a quick vid first.
7.) The P2-P4 players' Ribbon Badges don't work
8.) Changing maps with 4 players somehow pushes everyone 1000 miles in whatever direction they were facing and P2-P4's HP all become 1
9.) Even with 0 offense, 'dead' rabbits can still deal damage via the Fire Orb. This basically allows a 4P party to maul through heavy waves of enemies by covering the P1 Erina and then touching everything to death XD

Neat.

I hope there's no achievements for like clear the entire game in multiplayer mode though, because I have terrible Internet speed (laggy games aren't fun) and irregular free time to plan & play together with friends...
chaoticenigma Dec 26, 2016 @ 2:56pm
yeah, please no achievements for this. If you're going to make one, then only make one for activating with one extra player since not everyone has multiple controllers, but even then, some people don't even use controllers on PC and that would just screw them over, so it's preferable to avoid achievements related to it entirely.

I don't see the issues with achievements in this mode. Adding more achievements for this mode doesn't make the game any less fun. If you don't want toi play multiplayer, then don't.

I believe some people prefer having all achievements on the games they have (and Steam keeps track of perfect achievement rate, I believe), and adding multiplayer-exclusive achievements after over 11 months to a game that didn't look like it even could have multiplayer would be kind of mean to some of those players, especially if the achievements weren't trivial to obtain.

if you were to do a versus thing on this, then i'd easily welcome it.

multiplayer storyline though.... looks like it needs a LOT changed with it. namely making it more manageable to know who got what debuffs and such

either way, needs to have something where we can connect over the net and play without trying to map everything to one comp if it becomes a thing
