Really? How? Not trying to be mean but im just curious!
For example, Valve swapped over to a new hammer editor (Valve's in-house mapping tool), old maps won't function in source 2 without being converted (Heard it's easier to just remake the map in the new editor than to convert the old map, that should give you an idea of the severity of the situation);
Same goes for everything else; models, etc.
What would be the point of gmod, without mods? Also Facepunch has clearly stated their disinterest in the subject, but you don't seem to care about that.
Okay so this isn't Source 2...but rather like Source 1 updated
And well like i said those are the only things that would change! Map size, optimization and more options for map and mod creators...you don't have to rewrite every mod and models for it...
Am i not understanding something?
Other than the fact that it would be a complete waste of resources It would face licensing issues and fees. I don't think Valve even hands out licenses for their engines anymore.
Like i said...this "Upgrade" wouldn't be source 2!
