Avast detecting HL2.exe as a virus

Started happenening this morning around 7:15AM Pacific. Is anyone else getting this?

Avast throws it in the virus chest

claiming that the .exe has something called a "Win32:Evo-gen [Susp] in it

I just got this too. When I scan it again in virus chest it shows "no virus" and I returned it to the folder, but it happened again when I tried to launch the game. Hopefully its a false positive.

That's referencing a file named "garry_mod.exe". That example is likely of a virus disguised with gmod's name and not the actual exe file used to start the game. That is also 8 months old, not to mention gmod's executable is hl2.exe.

This screams false positive. Turned off Avast and uploaded the file to virus total. I don't think the update is malicious since it's only Avast users complaining about this.

just add an exception to your avast virus scanner, it will ask if you want to do this if you remove it from the chest
