*Cough* *Cough* Virus/Gman virus explanation and video.

There is a piece of malware doing the rounds on Garrysmod. Clients become infected by joining an infected server. Infected clients spread the malware by joining a server that has sv_allowupload or sv_allowdownloads set to 1.

Any server that has "!!!" in the front of its name is infected with this abusive source engine exploit.

For those wondering what the malware does, reported effects include constant coughing in chat, game closing for no reason, player name changes and unwanted spam messages being sent via Steam. There also is another form of this virus that causes a picture of Gman's face to pop up on your PC Screen, it will also cause your mouse to get stuck in the top right corner and if you try to hit ESC or Ctrl ALT DELETE It will screech and say "Its too late now! YOUR IN THE PITS OF HELL!" and proceed to open multiple porn and virus sites and hundreds of tabs in all your installed internet browsers eventually crashing your PC (I think it'll do more damage as it progresses).

APRIL 19th, 2014: There has been a patch sent out by Garry Newman (founder and creator of Garrysmod) for all users, its supposed to fix these viruses but I advise everyone to stay alert because there are still rumors of infected users and servers, and I've also heard that Valve is taking acting on this by VAC Banning leftover infected users (Not entirely sure though, as stated "Rumors"). To add to this subject, I've also been getting reports of this virus reaching the Gmod Workshop addons and other source engine games, be weary everyone, please.

I hope everyone stays safe, I also hope that all of us can get back to what we usually do on Garrysmod (And I hope it gets better soon, I need to get back to my machinima creations and Server Hosting, but enough about that)

This was fixed long ago.... Its perfectly fine to play Gmod now.

See what he is talking about are two different things. The cough cough thing that happened was a simple exploit in the source engine that was used for giggles. The orginal gman virus is a whole lot wrose and trust me from being a gmod 10 vet. The gman virus was given to you if you downloaded a infected lua script from the orginal garrys mod addon website. It would in a nutshell destroy your computer from the inside out. But even that is long gone since the website is now gone and all addons are virus scanned by valve as they are uploaded.
