Game stutters/freezes before autosave

So I brought this game earlier today and have been enjoying it so far. My only complaint is that the game sometimes freezes and the audio stutters just before it autosaves. Most of the time it will go back to normal within a couple of seconds, but there have been two occasions where I had to close the game and restart it as it froze completely and wasn't responding.

Is there any known fix for this?
As previously mentioned, it doesn't always happen, most of the time the game will autosave without me knowing as there are no stutters/freezes what so ever.

My OS is Vista
RAM is 4GB
GeForece 9800 GT graphics card
Intel Core 2 Quad 6600 2.40GHz processor

I figured it out. The 64 bit version of the game does not work properly. Select the game in steam and go to properties and go to the set launch options. Type -32bit in the box and now the game will run in 32 bit mode and it should fix the problem. Also do this to any mod that is based on portal and probably to any other game that uses half life 2 as a base.

Thank you! I have this problem on Windows 10 x64 and try it with the launch parameter and disabled autosave. Now i can play the game without issues on my system

Didn't work for me. Running the latest version of Windows 10, 64-bit.
