The full error is:

The global shader cache file GlobalShaderCache-GLSL_150_MAC.bin is missing.

Your application is built to load cooked content. No cooked content was found; This usually means you did not cook content for this build. It may also indicate missing cooked data for a shader platform. Make sure your platforms packaging includes this targeted RHI.

Alternatively build and run the uncooked version instead.

My Mac Specs:

macOS Sierra Version 10.12.4

iMac (27-inch, Mid 2010)

Processor 2.8 GHz Intel Core i5

Memory 8 GB 1333 MHz DDR3

Graphics ATI Radeon HD 5750 1024 MB

Hi,

this is quite unfortunate. It looks like the game tries to start in OpenGL and OpenGL support for Mac was terminated with one of the last Unreal Engine updates - only Metal is supported from now on.

We specified a Graphics card that supports Metal (AMD Radeon HD 5870) as minimum requirement for this reason - your graphics card does not support it, unfortunately.

We're very sorry about this, but there is really nothing we can do. Luckily you seem to have less than 2 hours of playtime and can ask steam for a refund.

I tried a refund but they said it was past the 2 weeks. Totally sucks. I don't have room on my HD for Bootcamp. Has anyone tried this in wine or is it DX11 only?

I just tried in my most trusted wineskin for Steam and it did not work due to the DX11 failure. Guess I'm out my $25 bucks...

@tyrismaal looks like you're out of luck too...

Who does this? Sells it out on one platform and then after a few months switches it up so only certian mac specs can use it, and then refuse to give us our money back? I think that's called bait and switch and they should be called out on it.

Again, we're very sorry about this - we never intended to release an OpenGL version in the first place. When we first tried the game under OpenGL months ago there were many graphics issues which is why we decided to only support Metal and set the minimum requirements to the first Macs that support Metal (or rather the graphics cards these Macs use and their processors - as we can't specify models as minimum requirements). So we never thought anyone would be playing the game under OpenGl. We also could not foresee that Unreal Engine would terminate their OpenGL Mac support a few months later - and we did have to update Unreal Engine for some needed bugfixes and new features. So your thread is actually the first time we were made aware of the fact that there are OpenGL players out there who are now affected by the Unreal problem.

We have absolutely no interest in taking anyone's money without giving them a proper gaming experience in return. It's unfortunate that steam does not seem to issue refunds in these cases (they should) - but we'll figure something out.

@genunlimited @tyrismaal - Please write an email to support [at] rockfishgames . com so we can follow up on this

I sent an email to support. Thank you for working through this with me. The game is fun and I do wish to keep playing, but if that's not going to happen I would appreciate a refund.

I have the same exact problem. Please fix it. I have put a mail to rockfishgames too. Hoping to get back to the game soon.

I was given a refund from the rockfish crew. They were very cool about it.

I have late 2013 model of an imac downloaded new software update and it still doesn't work
genunlimited May 23, 2017 @ 6:01pm
You have to have Mac's new Metal graphics processor or it won't work. Totally sucks as I DID play this before they made that update and it ran flawlessly.
