Chrystal Mining

Hello Captains.
Been away for a while and I want to mine me some crystals. I seem to remember that, either by design or bug, it used to be thst the first colour Crystal you mined, dictated the colour you mostly found for the rest of the session.
Is this still the case? …… Or was it ever the case, is this all just crazy talk!

Never heard that bug before? The vast majority you will find will be purple and they are the cheapest. A few times I've started off with a blue or a juicy yellow one, but after that it's purple and unstable crystals which are worth quite a bit. There's a pirate base in Heretic's End who will buy them and all the others and Heretic's End is a fairly decent place to crystal mine to begin with. If you know what to look for you should get your first miner within 30 minutes.

I do not recall this bug existing.

Worth pointing out that Crystal Mining was heavily nerfed at some point.

If you collect the entire outcrop of a crystal that isn't purple then all the crystals you go on to find while staying in that asteroid field will be common purple ones. Even the rarer crystal type outcrops that you may have found earlier but not yet collected will change to purple ones.

This was a change made to make crystal mining less profitable. You need to go far away from the asteroid field to reset its randomised spawn of asteroids and crystals before collecting again there.

Just two days ago i needed to mine for lodestones, unstable crystals and whatever else it was i wanted. Went to nearest asteroid field shot some big rocks with a chimera and got lots of everything, way more than i needed, actually found it pretty easy.

Also have just two miners mining full time and they each bank 350 - 500,000+ on a regular basis.

Yeah I find crystal mining to be worth it. You need to be good at spotting them. But once you get going you just find them everywhere lol. And no, not every crystal is purple. I've spent quite some time doing it and you often find blue and yellow ones. Not many orange? And the white one is very rare.

You can easily get your first 2 miners crystal mining and it's safer than most other things. I quite enjoy it. Others not so much lol.
