Noob mining question
I'm just faffing around with setting up a S Miner to auto-mine based out of the Mars sector, and am quite clearly missing some basic mechanics.

Bare in mine I'm not looking to make millions, but just understand hoe things work.

So, if I set a miner up to mine auto-mine Ice for example, where will it deliver that Ice after it's been mined? To the nearest station in the local sector? And, will stations that Trade buy literally anything even if it is at a kak price, or is it a case of finding a station that will buy it?

Thanks

Station must want to but the thing you are trying to collect, so check station buy orders before deciding what to mine.

And as long as we are talking Terran space, Ice is not that good, try Silicon ;]

Oh, and while checking buy orders, make note of not only the price, but also the quantity they want. If you want a long lasting operation, stations must want tens of thousands of the stuff ;]

Appreciate the response, thanks.

IF you are talking about the local sector automine, then the choices of WHERE to mine are made for you, based on the mineral you set.
When you set "Silicon" as the mineral, which you do first, then when you go to select which sector you will mine in, that is decided based on:
a) does the sector have that mineral
b) does the sector have any business that wants to buy that mineral
an then if both answers are "yes" it is added to the list.
So that is why Mars might not appear in the list for some minerals or gasses.
Note that the limitation is "want to buy" not "can buy". For example, if there is one station in that sector that wasnt to buy Ore, then you can still local automine, but if the station is FULL of ore, your miner will not be able to sell. So it will wait and wait until the station issues a new buy order at which time it will go there and sell what it can.

If you are talking about the advanced automine, that is no longer limited like the local sector.

Thanks. So once its done the mining, how to I get the miner to set on a continuous loop to mine/sell?

Thanks. So once its done the mining, how to I queue the order to sell it?
I suspect you did not read all I wrote. Sorry if it's much.

You do not queue it. It's all included. Setting it up will first mine, and then go and try to find stations to sell its mined good. Then out to mine, and then back to selling, on and on, forever.

Just to make sure, you are not just issueing a command to your miner to mine, right? That is not sustainable. You set a behaviour. That is done by selecting the miner, right clicking on it and selecting information and then in the panels that pop up, one of them is set behaviour. That is what you use to tell it to local sector automine.

Right, got you now, thanks again.
