AI ally "guarding" an enemy system, so I can't take it?
Currently mid game and I have almost defeated the cravers but their last planet is being guarded by an allied fleet. I can't guard or invade ( I get the message "This system is being guarded" if I hover over either). The system has no defence and the AI has been sitting there for about 30 turns but will not invade. Is the only solution to leave my own alliance and attack them? All help is appreciated greatly.

Are you sure the enemy doesn't have any ships there? Do you have the option to attack another fleet? It could be that the enemy has a logistics ship sitting in orbit, which also counts as a ship guarding.

Thanks for messaging back, there was no option to attack any enemy fleets in the system. How do logistics ships work? Would I be unable to see them?
I had same problem. Had to leave alliance to be able to kill guarding fleet to take system.
It should be possible to negotiate taking over blockade from allies.

I think it works on a first in first served system- I'm guessing to prevent the messiness of deciding who invaded (see: spammed the invade icon) first if several people are trying to invade at once, or having it ninja'd by someone that took no part in weakening the system.

But yeah, the AI shouldn't hang around. Maybe a simple diplomatic request would be a nice option (assuming the AI abides by it), or a grace period where the faction that is guarding the system has X turns without invading before the option becomes available to other players.

Particularly if you're in an alliance. You shouldn't be getting blocked by your own side.

Edit: Then again, it could just be bugged /shrug

I also have this problem.
I am in an alliance and my ally (I have more than one) asks me to attack a system.
But I can not because he is already there and I assume he guards it!
I can not invade nor attack the enemy fleet... and if I leave this system he tells me i am a bad ally...
so, anything that could be fixed here?

I'm still having this issue

yup this is still a thing

Might be able to solve it, by using a mercenary fleet, so you can attack your alliance without revealing its you.

https://i.imgur.com/tu47cRv.png the system has been at 0 for over 15 turns now. i didnt even have the merc fleet tech available at the time, and my ally has now built up to this 34 ship invasion force lmao

yeah, i never found a fix so i just stopped playing the game

The fix: Stop joining alliances; ES2 alliances are *terrible*.

Problem solved. Sadly, that's just how it is, until/unless diplomacy gets a major overhaul (which it needs badly)

This has been a problem for 6 years, and isn't going to get fixed. Basically, stop entering alliances and you won't have to deal with this failed "feature".

Just ignore his whining, i neglect all alliance requests and not even once i got kicked out.
Its ridicules anyways how the empire is issuing an defend request for a enemy scout while having a godzillion battleships 1 system away and starting to get salty if you not move your fleet 12 turns away from this location, to remove that insignificant scout. And dont get me started about the lumeris , they just start begging for an alliance at one point and shortly after flooding your communication with insults about how youre the scum of the oceans. ;)

Oh i just got lost in my blabbing about the absurdity of the alliance requests without adding to the TE question sorry.

If you really want to grab the planet your ally is blockading you gonna go "rouge"
You sell your best ships to the market and buy them back and cloak them as "Pirate ships"
rabureta Jul 2, 2023 @ 11:22pm
You can also use a Juggernaut's ion wave to clear them out. It's not like your ally is using those ships anyway. They don't even get mad like Obliterator shots.
