Save games locked to computer?

Are the save games locked to the specific computer you are using, not being stored in the Steam cloud due to being such an old game? I had a save with 100% completion on another computer, but when I loaded up the game it is gone, any advice?

OK, this game was created in ... what, 1992? Somebody correct me here.

The whole concept of "cloud" had not been invented yet. None of the games produced in that era even knew about the Internet ... which I think also had not been invented yet.

Your only hope (and I do mean only) is to acquire that old computer and copy the saved games.

Or, just start over on the new computer, which may be a better option anyway coz now you know what you didn't know the first time.

They're saved in your documents folder. On my Windows 11 PC, they're in Documents\My Games\Sid Meier's Pirates!. If you replaced your PC or reinstalled Windows without doing backups of all your documents, pictures, etc., they're gone. However, if you were using Microsoft's OneDrive cloud storage for such things as your documents, you should be able to find the save files there.
