Unofficial "Patch" for Music LOOPS FIXED AND UPDATED
So I hit a few speedbumps on the way, looping was not done correctly but has now been fixed, extractors are replaced with the new version, I will keep looking at problems that might arise but I think I have it sorted now. On a side note, If cloudstrife gives me permission I will make a Sound and Graphics ebhancement pack which will include bot this package and his graphics mod. Both these packages are simple file replacements that should not break the achievements or cloudsaving. Mega uploads will be done first, 4shared comes a bit later

I have a "Patch" for those that have installed their steam and game in the default location (as far as click, run, ready goes)

The "patch" contains the Remastered version of the FFVII OST as done by Final Fan Tim, which is the same quality if not better then the PSX version and seems to be considered the best alternative for replacing the midi's they use in this version. these are looped with permision by Sir_Awesome III from the qhimm.com forums. I only packed them in a selfextractor for the not pc savy and lazy ppl ;)
He had made an music installer for the pc version however that one is useless for the new release, more info can be found at http://forums.qhimm.com/index.php?topic=10723.0

I have taken these ogg's and made it into two different selfextractors. One for 32bit systems and one for 64bit. The zips contain the folder music_ogg and music_ogg-copy, the first of course being your files, the second of course the back up of the "originals". These are click and run for those that have installed Steam at the default location and have their main drive C:. If not they still have to browse to the correct data folder before extracting, in that case the version is of no consequence, only reason then to use these would be that there will be a backup made by default
UPDATE
I seem to have scr**ed up the first build, which contained the files by Reimur and which can be found in the guide section of this game. If you want to replace the files yourself take a look there for a smaller package then these selfextractors, they do not contain a back-up so make one before use

the url for the 64 bit edition is {LINK REMOVED}
Alternative url http://www.4shared.com/file/mlb9U5ZJ/FFVII_OST_Remastered_Steam_ver.html

the url for the 32 bit edition is {LINK REMOVED}
alternative url
http://www.4shared.com/file/UQn-HkKW/FFVII_OST_Remastered_Steam_ver.html

just a note about the 4shared urls, though being an excellent hosting site they use toolbars in their downloader, use the download button next to the share button do NOT use the blue "priority" button
They should be installed with Admin Rights if on Vista/7/8 this means right click on it and choose "run as admin if you do not get the question by default (actually you should get the question if I have set it up correctly this time :) )

ALWAYS with every download from a "not trusted site or source" (like these files) scan the file with your virus scanner BEFORE opening it most virus scanners will have a right click context menu which means you get an option to do so when right clicking the file

Please tell me this doesn't simply extract to Program Files\Steam\SteamApps\common\FINAL FANTASY VII\data\music_ogg

EDIT: of course, 99% of the people who NEED to use it probably are installed there.

id rather manually replace them myself then allow an .exe to do it for me.
which i already did but still.

And when it comes to .exe's, not sure id trust someone posting links that only has FOUR games.

just sayin.

only has 4 steam games you mean. I am and have been a video gamer since,....uh.....1975?
What amount of games one has on steam says absolutly zip nada nothing. how many games do you have on CD, DVD, Cardtridge? how many consoles do you have.............really, you trust someone by the amount of games he has in his/her list. mjah....... not smart.

But you make a good point which I should have mentioned in the original post
ALWAYS with every download from a "not trusted site or source" scan the file with your virus scanner BEFORE opening it. It is too large for virustotal, else I would have posted a VT report with it
besides, I did not make this for people that have no problem doing it themselves, I do it for the people that wait for SE to do it because they can't themselves for whatever reason.

I think the author made that .exe files to simplify the extract action. But if you don't trust him, you can do it manually.

Simply, download music files: {LINK REMOVED}

Then, go to your Steam folder ... steamapps/common/FINAL FANTASY VII/data/music_ogg

And replace the files.

If you think Square Enix should do it for you (and for all customers who are unaware of this issue)

This definitely isn't a redundant topic due to the guide on this exact thing being the second most popular guide for this game.

Many simply don't want to copy paste themselves for whatever reason, instead of a guide I made them an installer that does all the work for them. redundant, not redundant I don't know aand really I don't care. If it is to use for some people I have done it for those people, if nobody would use it, so be it.

if you can simplify the process why would you not do so :)

What Whizzy is getting at is some people have no idea how to do it even following a guide. So he has provided a simpler way for people who don't know how to do it themselves. Or if like me and completely lazy. :)

Thanks for this, I feel lazy for depending on others, tho .. it's always nice that people help one another. This is the music the game deserves .. not some reject orgy of midi's..
