[03-29-2016] PC Patch notes for patch 1.0.647.2 (Patch #6)
We have just released the sixth PC patch for Rise of the Tomb Raider, build 1.0.647.2. This patch adds updates related to the new Cold Darkness Awakened game content, as well as a variety of other fixes. For details please see below.

This patch will be applied by Steam automatically when you next start the game. If your game does not update, please restart the Steam client. If you are using the game on the Windows Store, the update will be available later in the day, and will be downloaded by the Windows Store automatically.

[UPDATE] Please note that you will need to use this version of the game to be able to properly play Cold Darkness Awakened. If you have previously switched to a Beta to roll back to an earlier version please ensure you select 'None' as your Beta to ensure you are on the appropriate version to be able to play the new mode.

Cold Darkness Awakened

Decommissioned during the Cold War, a dormant weapons research base has been breached, unleashing a mysterious affliction into the Siberian wilderness that transforms men into blood-thirsty, mindless killers. Lara must overcome increasingly dangerous waves of these infected adversaries while scavenging their equipment and crafting additional gear on the fly, in kill or be killed survival-combat. Fight for your life against new enemies and complete new challenges, while discovering a way to stop or perhaps even reverse this impending catastrophe. Includes the Ushanka outfit which reduces Lara’s damage from melee attacks, the devastating Voidhammer shotgun, and the Cold Darkness Awakened Card Pack which includes over 15 new Expedition Cards.

Cold Darkness Awakened will be available to Season Pass holders as well as for individual purchase at 9:00am PDT.

Bug Fixes
  • Gameplay / Progression fixes
    • Fixed an issue in the Byzantine Bath House that occasionally prevented Lara from interacting with the crank on the raft.
    • Fixed an issue in the Byzantine Bath House where the raft physics could become erratic and break the puzzle.
    • Fixed several issues with the basecamp after completing Baba Yaga that could prevent players from accessing outfits or fast travel until the checkpoint was reloaded.
    • Added chance to loot Deer Antlers from resource chests in Endurance.

  • Minor Gameplay fixes
    • Prevented achievement progress for ‘Season of the Witch’ and ‘Complete History of Witchcraft’ from being obtained in Replay Mode.
    • Prevented Survival Caches obtained in Replay Mode from counting towards ‘The Witch Bottles’ achievement.
    • Added a default Gold Star for Baba Yaga in Score Attack mode after completing it.
    • Disabled ability to select the ‘Cocktail Party’ challenge in the Witch’s Cave in Baba Yaga.
    • Fixed appearance of the Wraithskin and Valiant Explorer outfits in some core campaign cinematics.
    • Prevented Lanterns in the Ropeworks from counting twice in Score Attack mode.
    • Added cosmetic improvements to the final cinematic in Baba Yaga.
    • Additional miscellaneous fixes to Baba Yaga and Endurance mode traversal.

  • Some improvements to stereoscopic 3D rendering.
  • A variety of other smaller optimizations, bug-fixes, and tweaks.
While we expect this patch to be an improvement for everyone, if you do have trouble with this patch and prefer to stay on the old version we made a Beta available on Steam, Build 638.8, that can be used to switch back to the previous version.

We will keep monitoring for feedback and will release further patches as it seems required. We always welcome your feedback!

well I hope I'll be finaly able to get solid 60 fps in soviete installation area like everywhere else in the game -_-

they must fix the Vram usage... on very high textures is 4056!! for 56mb stutters...in 4gb cards... if you put high textures you have 3gb Vram usage... 1gb useless...

DX12 performance has improved. Getting 81 fps average in benchmark. Using Titan X (x2 SLI, but there's a solid chance SLI isn't even working in DX12 mode yet), but this test was run with everything max, minus any antialiasing at 1080p so your mileage may vary.

Because it used to be part as an UPDATE of a game. Not a DLC , that you have to pay for.. Before they were updating a game to keep selling the same game not a freaking dlc.. That''s why he's mad.

i mad too becuse due to capital controls here in greece i can not buy digital things from abroad and so i can not buy the DLC. I will have to wait for as long as it takes for the capital controls to be lifted and then i will be able to buy the DLC. But if these DLC were part of the game when it was released then i wouldnt had to worry about it.

Awesome support here, glad to see so many updates with significant additions. Any chance of VXAO support for DX12? I'd rather not have to choose between the two as both are awesome. (Vulkan support would also be great)

Could you please fix the rope on Lara's belt? It's not visible in the main story.

When Pure Hair is OFF, Lara's hair is still a mess (behaves completely unrealistically). Will this ever get fixed, or isn't there anyone on the development team who even cares?

I don't see any mention about steam overlay crash

Unfortunately we have no update on the Steam overlay crash. Valve is still investigating this. If people have information on when exactly this occurs (is it while using the overlay? When notifications pop-up perhaps?) we can pass it along to Valve to help them in their investigation.
