Game Freezing
Ok, I have tried looking through the guides and posts in the community, but have not managed to find any solutions. Figured I would post for help before I did a refund request.

I can create a character no problem, I load into the opening area great. Then about every 20 seconds my game freezes for a solid 20 seconds. No hard drive activity, and I am running a solid 16 gigs ram. I have tried playing with the video settings and turning them up and down, enabling vsynch and not, played with the nvidia control panel and even switching it from fullscreen to windowed. Nothing helps.

Anyone else seeing this or found a solution? Thank you in advance

Same here. Most likely from the new update. Hope they have the servers working soon.

Tried validating and it didn't help. Thanks for the suggestion, though.

I am also experiencing intermittent game freezing. It began after the latest update. After observing the issue, I uninstalled Project Genom.

When I did this, I observed that the steam download manager reported data change to three unrelated games though the size of the data change was 0 kb on all three.

I cleared the manager and attempted to re-download Project Genom.

I observed the same three games reappear on the steam download manager as being altered, again with 0kb changed.

Uninstalling the three "affected" games has resolved the issue of having them appear in the steam download manager. I suspect this was a matter of data localization.

Upon reading that validating the file had fixed the issue for one user on this chat, I attempted the same. Steam replied that there were 3 files that did not validate and were reacquired. the download packet was 14.5 kb.

I ran the validator again and this time the file validated, so I launched it. The issue persists.

Closed game during the time frame when the game was working and validated the game. Validator reported 2 files that did not validate and were reacquired. The download packet was, again, 14.5 kb in size.

I wonder if there is an issue of data integrity / memory leak within the english localization portion of this latest update, but I can't say I know enough to do more than idly speculate.

Additionally, I had my task manager for my operating system open (windows 10) and observed that the game freezes were recognized on the manager as the program not responding.

I observed a decrease in use of the CPU and GPU 3d engine.

The program started working again, which increased its usage of my CPU and GPU 3d engine. There was nothing notable about the CPU (from 4% to 14%), but the GPU 3d engine would immediately spike to 50-60% and then cap out to 100% just before the game would freeze again

Every 10 seconds followed by 10 sec of pause.
English using North American server.
Files are fine, previous versions in april, may, and june worked fine.
This glitch is only started after I did this latest patch.

Launching the game and killing it through the task manager before connecting to any server, the validator reports only one missing file, for 14.4 kb. So the game loses its own data upon launch

I am suffering the same issue since the lastest update. Leopoldblaze has basically identifed it. From what I can see it looks like our GPUs are cycling power states ~10 seconds in 3D mode power state then ~10 seconds in their lowest idle power state. This of course is freezing the game each time. Guess we'll have to wait for another update to fix it. Unless anyone knows how to force a GPU into 3D mode regardless of what application/s are running as a work around?

Same issue, was fine before update.

Can confirm Leopoldblaze's findings, 3 screenshots of taskmanager prnt.sc/k1q5n9
Does not happen before/after connecting to authorization service, nor after Steam Authorization
It starts happening after clicking the Play button, and it happens during the loading screens

Happens equally at highest or lowest graphics settings, V-Sync on or off, any graphics resolution
Did not test if language or sound makes a difference.

Having the same issue on NA server. If folks really want to the play the game and don't mind starting over again playing on the European server is working well for me so far.

Mike's suggestion also worked for me, the Europe server seems more solid then NA server but no disconnects and no freeze ups either.
