Karn lost and found part 3.

so i have the compass but the game quest still says i need to find the compass and when i talk to karn all he says is "i dont know im just a pup" is there a fix to this i can do in game or like a script code i can enter somehwere? id hate to restart the game just to complete this quest with 9 hours of play on this save. i tried going to the lost temple again just to see if it would recognize the issue and it didnt so im stuck.
