cant start the game

any time i try to start a game it shows me following message
unable to find file c:\users\appdata\roaming\atonement
any help?

Hey there. It sounds like it's trying to create a folder for saving your game but is unable to.

Do you have appdata\roaming folder on your computer? I would assume you should. It's usually hidden. If you can switch on showing hidden folders (this can be done from Control Panel) and find appdata\roaming folder inside your username folder, you might be able to manually create the folder for the game. It will have to be named "Atonement Scourge of Time" (the full title of the game, and no colons in between). Let me know if this makes a difference.

well guys thank you for Your help i did create folder C:\Users\name\AppData\Roaming\Atonement Scourge of Time but this unfortunately does not solve the problem. may be the problem with letters used maybe?

Does it still give the same error message or does it say something else this time?

What operating system are you using btw? Also, where on the computer is the game installed? Just wondering, since it's possible either one of those is the cause.

windows 7, game is installed in steam catalogue with other games but on disc f: yes it is same message

similar problem here. using Win8.1 x64
message:
"Unable to find file:
C:\Users\micha(^3)\AppData\Roaming\Atonement Scourge of Time"
(^3) - is upper index 3 - my username in windows is michał - last letter is polish alphabet specific letter.
in my user folder there are 4 variants of my user name - manually adding "Atonement Scourge of Time" folder doesn't work.

Oh I see. Maybe that is why. It probably can't create a save folder due to special characters in the username.

I'll discuss this with New Reality Games and see if there's a way we can fix this or send you a different version of the game perhaps that handles save games differently.

Hey guys. Just checking in. I've spoken to New Reality Games a couple of days ago and a slightly different version of the game should be on its way to you. Let me know if you've gotten it yet and if it's all working fine. :)

Does it still give the same error message? I think yeah, it might be a good idea to uninstall the other version and to try the new one afterwards. Does anything else unusual happen? Hopefully we'll find out what's going on.

still same error. i downloaded the game again, but nothing changed. I think its the same version. So i'll just wait for update.

Heya again, guys. Very sorry about the whole thing. New Reality Games gave a good suggestion to try. Would you be able to create a new username on your computer that doesn't use special characters in the name and then try to launch the game through that?

Please let me know how it goes. We've never had this problem before, so did not expect something like this to happen.
