General topic on clearing up some confusion and misinformation.
First off, we're going to clear up the character creation/customization feature. This Gif shows the complete extent to visual character customization upon creating a character. http://i.imgur.com/9FK6zyv.gifv (of course there will be more colour sets to unlock)

To clear up some confusion, some people were referring the different armour sets as different classes. The character creation they were referencing was from a video of the PAX East 2015 demo, which was a prototype version of the game. This clip of character selection from the video is not how the game is now, each "character" shown in the gif is actually an armour set that can be found in the game. They used to be different characters that were going to be selectable from the start of the game, but they have since then changed that feature. http://i.imgur.com/niKirGw.gifv

If you are wondering about the different "classes" that are going to be in the game, these are the concepts for them http://i.imgur.com/KoaqzqO.png, they will be added to the game later as expansions, along with new biomes, weapons, enemies, items, potions, scrolls, gadgets, etc.

BE SURE TO UNDERSTAND THAT THEY WERE NEVER INTENDED TO BE IMPLEMENTED INTO THE INITIAL RELEASE OF NECROPOLIS. NOTE THAT THE EXPANSIONS WILL ONLY BE CREATED AND SOLD IF NECROPOLIS IS RECEIVED WELL ENOUGH. IT IS NOT A "FOR SURE" THING.

Secondly, we're going to tackle the "sword and board" argument. These are gifs that I have put together to show some weapon variation.

In this Gif it shows a Great Sword with some type of enchantment on it http://i.imgur.com/bYYHjxd.gifv

In this Gif is shows a Giant Spiky Club being used against some giant spiky monsters https://i.imgur.com/3TJtuup.gifv

In this Gif it shows a Large Golden Spear and it's various attacks https://i.imgur.com/C8Q7KRk.gifv

In this Gif it shows the classic Kukri sword with some type of Fire Enchantment on https://i.imgur.com/MBLTXU5.gifv

Now for some general information

It's Permadeath.
It's procedurally generated.
It's control layout is almost 1:1 with Dark Souls https://i.imgur.com/HG4qmbR.png

1. NECROPOLIS is NOT an RPG so there will never be any "classes" only different characters i.e the Brute, and Arcanist.

2. There will be no Boss Fights, except for the ending boss https://youtu.be/oA7z2mUnbsE?list=PL5Y47k6r7ZhUeHl9vEQxwLcRCdcn7KLWN&t=252

3. There are many biomes, we have not seen many because that would spoil it for us. Here is a bunch of Gifs showing the Swamp Biome https://imgur.com/a/98vu7

4. Combat has been greatly improved since most of the gameplay videos have been shown.

5. There are IFrames within the dodging.

6. There is no local co-op, only online, as well the multiplayer is "drop-in drop-out" meaning there are no lobbys.

8. EDITED below. Only the host of the online session keeps their character progression, once you leave someone elses session your character will not be saved. As well, your single player character is completely separate from the co-op, unless you are hosting. Which means you are not using your single player character when you join someones game.

EDIT: Multiplayer is a bit tricky to understand here. They way it works is that whoever is hosting basically holds your character file for you, meaning your two computers make a connection, and then after you disconnect, and come back later, it will match your two files from that connection it made from the last session, and then bring you back to that saved file. Meaning that your characters progression is saved.

9. GOG and Steam players will not be able to play together. Purchase wisely.

10. The only things you keep throughout death are the Codexes, Tokens of Favor, and Dyes. Codexes are buffs that you can purchase with Tokens of Favor, Tokens of Favor are given by The Brazen Head when you complete his tasks. You can also discover new colour palettes, or you can purchase them for Tokens of Favor from the old man merchant. The Colour palettes (also known officially as Dyes). If you are still confused, here is an Imgur Album with visual explanations. https://imgur.com/a/MsHIp

11. You can only equip ONE Codexe at a time.

12. There are no "two-handed" weapons.

13. There is dual weilding, but it is restricted as, on your off hand you can equip ranged weapons or a shield, in your other hand you can equip melee weapons.

I think that is all of the concerns with misinformation for today.

Now for the fun stuff. Here's an Imgur Album that I dedicated to Necropolis http://imgur.com/a/4IX0z within the album there are several useful links. Be sure to checkout the Youtube playlist that I have created, it's full of Necropolis related videos!

Cheers!

Thanks for getting this info up! It's very thorough but is all good and correct to my knowledge. One small note the color palettes you're talking about are called "dyes" in the game. :)

Shouldn't a spear be a stabbing weapon?

No boss fights. -- Allow me to quote something I have previously said on the topic. I'll elaborate a bit afterwards.

"Basically at the end of the day, bosses dont fit in a world of procedural generation and a living ecology. It would make for a very static, and possibly boring world. From what I've seen, the game tried hard to make sure each run is different enough from the last, to keep things fresh and have new encounters that have to be overcome in different ways."

In addition to that, I'd like to say that the living ecology in the game, would mean FAR less if any part of the game were static. The whole point of having enemies be inherently unfriendly towards each other is to make game knowledge even more valuable. Now each run has so much more potential. With good game knowledge, and awareness of one's surroundings, you can turn a bad situation into a not-so-bad situation.

Hope this helps. Happy hunting!

You can still make roaming mini-bosses a thing, never said they had to be static, just gets boring if all you are up against are mobs

Well obviously our knowledge of the game's enemies is very limited atm... But depending on one's stipulation for a 'mini-boss'... they may have them.

BRING BACK RISE OF INCARNATES!
Nitrotetrazole Jun 29, 2016 @ 6:20pm
the mentality that the average mobs are boring leads up to the boss proper is only that, an ingrained mentality from so many games who followed that formula. you dont need boss when every encounter is interesting and interacts with the world around it

is there any plans at all to make characters save for host and others? bit of a dealbreaker for many im sure

To everyone talking about boss fights, take a look at the pictures on imgur. It seems like there are monsters that are tougher than the rest, which are boss enough if you ask me.
