Title is the error I get when trying to play Fallout 2.

I've played the entire game before without issue, but suddenly now it starts crashing for no reason. Reinstalling it doesn't fix anything, nor does verifying the integrity of the game cache.

How do I fix this?

I am getting this error too, at the very beginning of the game. Elsewhere I saw a recommendation to run it as Administrator, which worked but led to another error -- Red text overlaying the screen warning that I had overwritten the RP ddraw.ini file and that I should revert before it's too late!

Googling around suggests a mismatch between the RP ddraw and sfall versions -- but I'm not sure how to reconcile this problem. Hacking the ddraw.ini file only brought the original error back.

Running as administrator still gives me the same error.

Is there a newer one than the latest on killap.net? (Version 2.3.3 released 5th July 2014) Because that is the version I've had the crashes with.

Not that I have seen, but the version that ships by default from Steam is older than that... Maybe update sfall too?
