Can no longer use creative menu in survival mode

As the title says, when i type CM in the console it says it has switched to creative.
But when i press the H button to open the creative menu it no longer works.

It worked fine last night, and yes, the creative menu button is still H, i also made an alternative
keybind to see if that works to no avail.
Closing the game and restarting also did not work.

Using Changemode and logging out and back in does work but sometimes i just want to quickly
grab something from the creative menu while in survival.
Was there a patch that changed this behaviour ?
It is quite annoying, i hope it's just a bug which they hopefully fix soon.

It's Item Menu, use IM not CM.
