srvNoPermission
OK, I've read everything on this topic I can. I just need to make myself an admin on my own ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ server. I'm not sure why they made this so ridiculously unfriendly, but it's wasted a huge amount of my time. I've rewritten the adminconfig.yaml over and over according to every seperate suggestion in other people's posts. Out of complete desperation, I even copied and pasted everything in any folder I could think of it being relevent.

Every time I try to make a command it says SrvNoPermision. All of this would be solved if the server itself had the ability to make commands (like minecraft, of all bloody games). I'm not technologically inept. I may not work with servers a lot, but I know my way around. I'm frustrated that this isn't working. I'm not sure if I'm doing something wrong, or if it's a glitch. Either way, I'm willing to try anything, if anyone else has suggestions.

in your server directory there is an adminconfig file for you to put your steam id in
just make sure to rename it adminconfig after editing it or the server won't see it

I've done this. More than once. I have tripple checked my ID and even used a random one that pops up in my single-player games, since someone said the "real" one wasn't working for him. I've made sure I've named it "adminconfig". It's just not working.

The correct name of the file would be adminconfig.yaml

the text inside should be like this :

--- # Admin Configuration # This file can contain two lists: one with elevated players with special permissions # and one with banned players. # 'Id' is a SteamID64 in both lists, lookup possible at https://steamid.io/ # 'Permission' is 3 for 'GameMaster', 6 for 'Moderator' and 9 for 'Admin' - other values are not allowed. # 'Until' is the time when the ban ends. Elevated: - Id: 111111111111111111111 Permission: 9

replace the 111111111111111111111 with your steam id, the adminconfig.yaml need to be in your server saves main folder where the adminconfig.example.yaml is located

simple way to find your own id is to open one of your singleplayer save folder ..\Empyrion - Galactic Survival\Saves\Games\mysavegame\Players the number in the name of the .ply file there is also your steamid.
The file is a bit picky about spaces so take care you use the format i posted above

Ah - and may use Editor instead of word or wordpad to edit that file.

I actually just figured it out. The solution for me, apparently was not to name it adminconfig.yaml, but just name it adminconfig. Everything else I had tried and multiple variations. I'm not sure if it's relevant, but I was using notepad to edit it. In any case, thanks for trying to help :)

thats correct the full name of the file will be adminconfig.yaml, since windows don't display the .yaml and show it as type : yaml if you look at it in the windows explorer.

Notepad ist fine, i guess thats the english name of the "Editor" ( im using german windows)

good to see you could solve it now

glad to help :)

Right, I knew this, but assumed I needed to rename it exactly as the instructions said. A real brain-fart moment for me. In any case, my bad. Thanks for the help. :)

I'm in the same boat... srvNoPermission... this is indeed frustratingly hard to get to work.

Should be simple...

I just had this issue. Its easier to access the file adminconfig.yaml on the broweser in game on the server manager. You cant by simpley going to the save file on your computer.
You just click the file manger on the left side menu. Then open the file ( adminconfigexample.yaml) under Empyrion saves Input you steam ID in the the field it specifys. Your steam ID can be found if you use the websteam page. log in and go to your profile. It will be the long number in the address. Or when you join a server it will show on console command.
After rename the file adminconfig.yaml and save then restart server.

it should look like this but with your steam ID

Elevated:
- Id: 954354896545
Permission: 3
Skarson Dec 24, 2016 @ 2:37am
btw you can do that easy by telnet

setrole <player name or SteamID> admin

you have to be logged into the game when doing that

ok tried the renaming file thing buddy mentioned and it works... sorry I thought I had done that.
removed the .yaml part of the adminconfig.yaml file and this seemed to fix the problem.

Can anyone confirm if this requires server restart, reset, or anything? I've modified the file multiple times, triple checked everything, still no permission.

Honestly the only reason I'm dealing with this garbage is because my ship is stuck and no way to un-stick it...
canucklehead73 Dec 30, 2016 @ 9:41pm
I would assume it needs a restart once you have it edited correctly
