[FEEDBACK] Junk Everywhere But I Can't Touch It
Just a small bit of feedback but one I think I find initially frustrating is all of the junk laying outside of the bunker. And I guess everywhere else while we're at it.

My issue is that the game features a lot of crafting and resource management and I see all of these props laying around and I can't do anything with any of them.

Sometimes they're a container with a few things inside but after Fallen Earth and, especially, FO3, FONV, and FO4 when I see something of value I want to get something from it.

That car over there? Let me rip off some metal, glass, rubber, wires, batteries, electrical boards; anything.

The cash register in the gas station? Can't open it. Can't get anything from it.

Point is that in a post-apocalytpic game resources are supposed to be a lot of the point and as a player it's frustrating to see all this stuff laying everywhere and then finding out almost all of it are just props.

How do you find the game? I've been trying to get some feedback about the game as i enjoyed Fallen earth and this seems similar? I did try The Skies and that game appears abandoned, and i fear this game will go the same way.

I watched many Youtube videos and it seems a good game in the Fallen earth mode. So any insight you can give me about the game i'd appreciate it

Hey Nuvibe,

Overall I'd say that what is there is actually pretty good. It appears at the moment that the majority of the mechanics currently in the game relate mostly to resources, crafting, building in-world structures (which is very good!), and the associated character skills. Presently there isn't much there for action. I've so far only made it to the longbow but that touches on, I think, the game's single biggest issue:

The survival aspect doesn't quite mesh with the overall IP the game is trying to establish. Like Fallen Earth, Edangrad is supposed to be a futuristic post-apox experience but moments after a character is thawed out they're led around this sophisticated bunker that features all kinds of cool technology. There are soldiers standing around in absolutely sick looking armor and they're toting glowing plasma rifles, out in the warehouse area are forklifts, in the headquarters is a giant holomap of the surrounding area, the medical facilities are pretty nice, et cetera.

And yet one of the first quests is to craft a bow and arrow. Huh?

Why am I not trying to fix some junker laser pistol or something? Where's the tech? Why are we immediately back to the stone age but I can still return to this super bunker full of soldiers and computers and what-have-you any time I please and then run fetch quests for the NPCs inside?

I think initially dropping the players into the world they do and basically spending the rest of your character's existence in the dark ages is... it doesn't reconcile. Like, at all.

The game is indeed much like Fallen Earth but, if you read my OP, you can see there are currently some issues delineating resources and props. Basically, way too many props that SHOULD be resources.

So, my biggest gripe aside, the action really isn't there at the moment which probably explains why no one is really playing it but the crafting and resource system are pretty good and the player leveling and character attributes are solid too.

I also haven't seen much of the world yet. I have not left the initial zone but the handful of locations I've been to have seemed pretty cool (there's a giant crashed spaceship half a click from the starting bunker that looks pretty neat).

So the real question here is that this is early access and is Edengrad even going to make it to a beta? Well, it came out on Steam in May I think and the devs have had very regular updates. It's a Unity game which means, in theory, it should be the path of least development resistance which is good. The devs do appear to have a couple bucks and have even made a fairly decent live action trailer. Lastly, the devs are super active on the official Edengrad Discord server and you can basically chat them up whenever you feel like it.

So I think Edengrad actually has quite a bit going for it and you can tell that the game's main producers are pretty hyped about the product.

I think the game is like $13 currently or something so basically the cost of three mochas. Should you pick it up? Well, this is the only currently in-development post-apocalytpic MMO I'm aware of. There are certainly more but they're far more sci-fi in nature and center around a crash colony ship as a game springboard (Project Genom, The Repopulation). If you're looking for Fallen Earth 2.0 it might become that in a year or two but, y'know, it's not like there are any other options out there anyways.

Hope that helps!

Thanks for the review Cavadus :) I totally agree that for a post apocalyptic world the bunker seems pretty well organised from what I’ve seen on YouTube. I tried The Skies, a similar game that seems pretty much abandoned but this does seem to have an active development team (atm)

I just wish this game had male/female character creation

Can you tell me if I can configure keyboard controls? I’d like to use forward/backward keys for movement and preferably mouse steer with right button held down as in other mmos left and right key for sidestepping

Oh and is there a good server to chose?

Really enjoyed your input :)

You can rebind keys to your heart's content so no worries there. It's pure action combat though so using RMB for movement might not work out.

I'm currently on the Bob (U.S. West) server. I've only seen one other player character there since I started this week.

Thanks Cavadus. I think I’ll pick this one up. From just watching Just Jeremy YouTube videos this game seems to have a lot to offer even in its current state.

Thanks for your advice wish I could see you in game. Might try Bob and see how bad the ping is from dear old Blighty
Hey Cavadus, thank you for your feedback! I totally agree with what you said about junk just laying around while you're not able to pick it up. It's going to be very time consuming, but sooner or later we'll start adding more and more objects you can loot or destroy. We're a very small team and we must focus on small number of things at a time, and right now it's adding missing mechanics. We're re-working combat and adding PvP and PvE arenas for v0.5.

I'll bring this issue up once again during our daily meeting tomorrow. I'll share news if there is any. ;)

Despite quite a few flaws I'm more than pleased with the amount of fun i've had with the game. Now it seems that quite a few of the starter quests are broken and i've no idea where to head to now.
I'd love to see these quests fixxed, female characters added and hopefully a pvp update will bring people to the game...

Just worried that criticism that can be leveled at The Skies regardng broken quests no female characters etc can also be applied to Edengrad, and this game will never be completed.

I hope i'm am wrong

you are adding PvP and PvE arenas for v0.5. ?

Don't you need people "players" for an Arena ?

For PvP arenas - yes, you do. In PvE arenas you can go solo.

Quests are being fixed and new ones are being added. I hope that after v0.5 we're going to push weekly patched like we used to.

PvP is our main focus in v0.5.

Famale characters are planned, but we're not going to add them before leaving Early Access.

Like, you don't plan on having female characters prior to actual launch? Y'all should probably reconsider that.

No he means, " we're not going to add them" "before leaving Early Access."

Means, as They Say, They are a "SMALL" TEam. For what you wish about, will take this team, about 15 yrs to make a Female. So dont Expect anything.

Leaving Early Access lol, that is a Joke, you wont ever be leaving. EVER ! Mark my words.Id even Put $ down on it. GOOD Luck.
