Visionaire supports Linux now. Did the engine change?

They (still) don't support Linux, and I'm losing faith that they ever will to be honest.

Hey Linux guys,

We are ready to proceed with the Linux test, please do the following:

OPEN LINUX (Ubuntu 12.04 and higher or an other Debian / Fedora derivated OS)
OPEN STEAM
RIGHT CLICK ON STASIS
SELECT PROPERTIES
SELECT THE BETAS TAB (FAR RIGHT)

ENTER IN THE CODE:
torvalds1969

CLICK CHECK CODE
THE CODE WILL ENABLE linux test 1 IN THE DROP DOWN BOX
SELECT linux test 1
CLICK CLOSE
CLICK INSTALL (STASIS)
STASIS INSTALL SHOULD BE ±3 GIGS
CLICK NEXT AND FOLLOW INSTRUCTIONS
ONCE INSTALLED CLICK PLAY

I have not played through the entire Linux Steam build of the game yet - I also getting a bit of a choppy frame-rate on parallels, so please play a few minutes of the PC or MAC version if you can to test out how it should play.

I am not entirely sure we will support this platform as the technicalities are an issue. I hope it plays well and you can confirm it is decent enough for release.

First person to finish the game on Linux gets a prize :)

NOTE:

Minimum requirements for ALL Linux Platforms:
x86_64 (which means an 64 Bit OS)

Steam:
Steam has already openAL and openGL drivers installed.

All other platforms:
openGL (GPU Driver)
openAL (the user must install openAL manually)

If I'm not mistaken, that's a old post from before the dev decided to get external help to port to Linux. It's pretty much unplayable.

Since then - nothing.

Sorry guys. Still waiting for the engine devs to sort out the issue with the Linux player. Apparently it is related to their font engine. In terms of our new game, CAYNE (free btw) it should be fully playable on Linux. I have run through it on the latest UBUNTU and have made it compatible. I had to build a separate video system and fine tune the mouse input but it runs insanely well - It took two weeks to sort out. I am testing the Steam achievements and the Steam client on Linux next week! With STASIS we are tied to a third party to get these things done :( I will need several Linux beta players - I will post an update in this thread with a call for players closer to the release date. Thanks for your support!

Same here.
There is still a challenge going on :)

Ha! I mean for CAYNE but STASIS as well :)-

Yes, I would be very happy to test as well. Both games, since I have Stasis already. Bought on the promise of a Linux version, silly me :-(

Anyway, you do remember we're all very grateful for you choosing to support Linux, do you not? :-)

I do! :) I've setup a dedicated Linux machine now and it is part of my testing process. I am very impressed with Unity and their support of Linux. I haven't tried SteamOS yet, but Ill install it and see if the game works the same as on Ubuntu.

Awesome news. Still want to play Stasis as well though, and still would be glad to help with testing.

I have this vague notion of porting STASIS to Unity at 4k one day :)

The last I checked with Visionaire was last week and they said the Linux fix was on the todo list - Ill keep asking.

just wanted to chime in, when I saw this game was quite thrilled but when I saw it doesn't support linux wanted to pass until I found this thread I had no doubt of need to buy this just for your extra effort! So keep up the good work and thanks :)

Is cayne a similar game to Stasis or what is it about?
