I just re-installed the game, and it wont start. I even validated all of the game files and it still wont work!

ok then have a look at this pictures
https://imgur.com/a/KTRwA
delete all on the pictures marked files from BOTH folders
then verify integrity of local game cache files (again)
...and u should be fine again

sometimes in rare cases the update doesnt delete old files and the engine find the files and try to load and this cause issues like this so u have to delete the files manualy

OMG!!!
I cant believe it, but this worked! (or, buying Wolfenstein II and installing it installed something needed).
But, anyway, THANK YOU very much from the bottom of my heart!

But, now, the game launches on the MP tab instead of a menu to select either SP or MP ?
Is that normal?
And, it just sits there at the MP screen, with a red whirling circle, presumably looking for MP games?
Anyway, if I can play SP, I dont really care.
:D

EDIT:
Re-Re-verified, and it finally found 4 files that needed downloading, and now it launches into the main menu!
Thank you VERY much @Ransom !

ur welcome :)

@ChooChooBonkers
this solution could also work for u but i dont know ur errorlog but give it a try, u cant destroy anything, u just have to verify integrity of game cache files after deleting then steam will download all missing files and all will be fine...
let us know if its working

The OP reinstalled the game. So the extra files should be gone but i would check to be sure.

deinstalling doesnt mean it delete just the folder like u would do with ur mouse ;)
usualy it follow a install log and usualy a update change the install log and the uninstall script just delete file by file and then the old files will remain there and after reinstalling the issue is also still there... that all depends on the method wich is used for deinstalling so the op should have at least a look at this...

You're right. I'm used to delete any remaining files or folder when i delete something but it could still be there.

Just wanted to say you helped another user get his game back also, @Ransom, because I had posted this question in multiple forums.
Anyway, one guy had the same issue, and me posting the url to this thread helped him get his game back working again.
So, 2x thank you, and probably even MORE people than you know have found this workaround.
And, Bethesda are still saying the same things: Did you verify integrity? Did you uninstall steam? Did you uninstall the game? Did you power on your computer?
Hehe
I am going to send them this link, so maybe future updates wont break the game.
:)

yup its not rly new... helped some other ppl in this forum with this issue too. usualy i recommend to use the forum search engine if there are some threads with the same fix :P but this issue is hard to figure it out without the technical experience and knowledge to read and understand the error logs... sometimes there are other issues caused by other reasons with quite similar error logs too
so it isnt easy for "normal" users to figure it out...

the bethesda support are just ppl in a call center working with a checklist. that means u need some luck to get to a callcenter agent with some knowledge beyond this list ;)
bethesda isnt a software developer studio, its a publisher, a seller and marketing company between the developers and the market so i cant blame them... they do what a company like this can do. bethesda isnt the worst publisher, even if many say so but there are more publisher with much less and more incompetent support and much stricter deadlines for devs wich leads to much more unfinished releases... i rly cant blame bethesda for being a big publisher ;)
they arent the best publisher for devs and users but also not the worst like Electronic Arts ^^

Yeah, EA doesnt even bother to respond to tickets anymore. Ubisoft (who makes some of my most favorite games) is starting to really get bad with tech support also, much worse than Bethesda.
:(
But thank you again.
:)
