Manual Shifting w/ Clutch Broken?

Basically, I am able to shift gears without letting go of the accelerator and pressing the clutch. Even on old cars like the Mustang and BMW's, I can switch gears only by moving the H-shifter, no use of the clutch required.

Bug? Feature? What the ♥♥♥♥ is going on?

Many teams in racing have their budgets balanced within a hair's breadth. A new transmission is very expensive. So are rebuilds. If they can spare that by using a device designed to take the abuse and be quick, easy and cheap to replace they will. That device is called a clutch.

There's nothing to be gained by float shifting and no performance advantage and a great deal to lose. Only fools trying to look cool will talk about how they float shift.

float shifting is at 2500 rpm.
here we shift at the max Rpm.
float shifting is not for racers.
project cars 2 is bugged with shifting

I've seen far more transmissions get junked and drive shafts twisted from inexperienced drivers dumping during a double clutch. I've not known a single experienced driver who killed a transmission from floating.

Dog gear transmissions in many race cars allow for easy shifting with lift off without clutching. Many race car drivers just lift off for upshifts especailly in nascar

You are all getting off-topic here. Can we stop arguing for 1 minute? Seriously now. Whether float shifting is a viable option for motorsport and if truckers use it are discussions for another time. And Koly, calm down, if you don't have anything useful to say, don't say it, stop spamming the thread.

The problem at hand is that PC2's shifting physics are broken. The clutch is useless, all up/downshifts are float shifts with no matching RPM, and the game even auto-shifts some cars. The devs have to be made aware of this. I suggest, if you have some spare time, start a thread on the PC2 forums and calmly *cough* Koly *cough* detail the issue. This is a major problem and hopefully one of you can get the attention of a dev. Even some sort of statement from them whether they are planning to fix it is enough.

Do you want to race or just experience a realistic gbox?? Ok I agree with what’s been said here about the clutch....to me...sms need to refine this further and give people an option.

My main annoyance is with the gbox downchange.To curb people’s need for the rapid downchange SMS made changes late on in the development in the game.
What I find in some cars and my favourite, GInetta gt4 is the delay when changing down ..especially 3rd to 2nd....there is a delay which is coded so it’s like the game decides when you changed...and in racing ..you need to wait a wee bit longer than is comfortable. I did hope it might be fixed in the latest patch....sadly no......maybe one of their real race drivers said,,,hmm this is the point I change to 2nd...lol

Clutch is most certainly BROKEN. It was fine at release. So good it surprised me, in fact. But now it's BROKEN.
This is what I was worried about. Catering to people who don't really want to learn how to play it.

Just came here,, was goona enjoy some nice racing at cadwell park in the old escort, good old stick shift racing, heel toe action, just smashing through those gears with that high winding 4 cyl screaming! Naaahh,, first of all you cant upshit fast or the gears dont engage witch is totaly unbelivable.. second of all, the clutch is all out of sync so the revs jump after the clutch has been released,, feels super slugish, i have quite some IRL track time under my belt with various cars 4wd, FR, but all with manual gearbox and if you cant get that right in the game, it takes away half of the experience.. How were they thinking you should shift fast in a vintage F1 car? You RIP through those gears,, Imma go play AC where you can actyually shift properly untill this is attended.

I agree is silly..

only way around it is to imagine that all of your synchromesh transmissions have been replaced with dog box transmissions. There you go.
