HD (kind of) Background Mod - Released
Hey folks.
I'm working with another modder (he's the coder) to get the lowres and really ugly filtered steam backgrounds into a "better" shape.

I don't want to get the hopes up too high as right now exporting the background and inserting them are possible (yay ^^) still we're struggling with seams that weren't present in the export as well as the import.
The Engine seems to do some fency stuff which he couldn't get around as of now. But still, we're at the beginning of this.

Please bear in mind that I'm not messing with the highres versions of some assets as they're copyrighted material from JAKE L ROWELL and I don't want to mess with it.

Use this csharp file instead: https://www.dropbox.com/s/3ebzpbe0h5xybul/Assembly-CSharp.dll?dl=1

Installguide:

- Under your FFIX install directoy under "StreamingAssets" backup the bin files p0data11 till p0data19.
- Under either x64\FF9_Data\Managed or x86\FF9_Data\Managed backup the Assembly-CSharp.dll file (x64 for 64 bit OS and x86 for 32 bit OS)
- Download the 7z and unpack it directly into you Final Fantasy IX install directory where "StreamingAssets" and "x64" sit.

Play! :D

If you don't want to use it anymore just copy over the old bin files as well as as the old Assembly-CSharp.dll.

Edit:
For everyone that can't wait my new release, Ze_Pilot made an HD mod himself.
Give him a visit/download. :)

Thanks for the amazing mod! I noticed the mod just has the x64 folder. Would it be possible to also include a 32-bit version? For those of us who game through Wine on Linux, 64-bit is not possible.

Thanks in advance if you're able to manage something.

I'll ask tirlititi and see what he can do.

This is so awesome! Thanks for doing this. It's one of my favorite games, and I'll probably cry when I see Burmecia all HD'd up.

Tirlititi said that it doesn't matter which Version you're running, the mod will work.
You just have to copy the things into the x86 folder instead of the x64 folder and everything else in the streaming assets and that's it. :)

@Fraggosso: Can you add the missing disc change art back into the game?

https://i.ytimg.com/vi/g_5L-blpd5A/maxresdefault.jpg

End of Disc One:

The FMV of Kuja flying away after Beatrix hands you your rear for the first time

End of Disc Two
The FMV of Garnet/Dagger standing in front of Queen Brahne's grave.

End of Disc Three:
When the party returns to Gaia aboard the Invincible and finds the entire world covered in Mist

After blown up with the scaler program, you could edit out the letters to say chapter 1, 2, 3 instead of change to disc. They would fade in and then fade out and then the next scene will occur.

Also, could you re-add the cut off portions of the steam fmvs? And then filter them to look like the steam fmvs and then paste them to the steam fmvs so that we could have the full view like on psx?

YES! PLEASE! Finally someone who understands the importance of these screens at the beginning of each disc. They marked the end of a chapter in the story ! Gave you a team to breathe. +1 to that

This was redundant because I lost my place in the forums lol. But he said he wasn't a coder so he cant do it. I know you can do it with ahk though. Just have to use gdi and find the memory addresses for these 4 spots in order to make the fade/in fade/out transitions in-game with the change disc pics.
Thanks just tested this out and I am very pleased.
Showed my buddy that believes in original versions of games the most. He is very impressed. Night and day difference on quality.

Thanks! That's nice to hear!
Right now Memoria Timewarp seems to be "broken". I'm working on a fix.
In the meantime I'm uploading a mirror to the Nexus.
