HD (kind of) Background Mod - Released
Hey folks.
I'm working with another modder (he's the coder) to get the lowres and really ugly filtered steam backgrounds into a "better" shape.

I don't want to get the hopes up too high as right now exporting the background and inserting them are possible (yay ^^) still we're struggling with seams that weren't present in the export as well as the import.
The Engine seems to do some fency stuff which he couldn't get around as of now. But still, we're at the beginning of this.

Please bear in mind that I'm not messing with the highres versions of some assets as they're copyrighted material from JAKE L ROWELL and I don't want to mess with it.

Use this csharp file instead: https://www.dropbox.com/s/3ebzpbe0h5xybul/Assembly-CSharp.dll?dl=1

Installguide:

- Under your FFIX install directoy under "StreamingAssets" backup the bin files p0data11 till p0data19.
- Under either x64\FF9_Data\Managed or x86\FF9_Data\Managed backup the Assembly-CSharp.dll file (x64 for 64 bit OS and x86 for 32 bit OS)
- Download the 7z and unpack it directly into you Final Fantasy IX install directory where "StreamingAssets" and "x64" sit.

Play! :D

If you don't want to use it anymore just copy over the old bin files as well as as the old Assembly-CSharp.dll.

Chooo Chooo!

Damn that is pretty big. Are the pics bmp or something ? Or you meant before you compress them to png and such ?

Both original and Fraggaso backgrounds don't blend with the characters because they are neither cartoony or pixelated, something in between, it is still better with Fraggaso though. I didn't dissagree anywhere.

If blending is something that matters a lot to you, you could try injecting a CRT/scanlines shader, it generally does a nice job at blending everything together.

If you could, please post the uncompressed files as well. I'd rather the image stay intact, rather then to download images with artifacts from the compression.
If you put up a torrent of the compressed & uncompressed, I will seed pretty much forever.

I'm moderately sure that he meant he's compressing the entire mod into a .rar or .7z file. There is also lossless image compression, so there is absolutely no need for him to upload a massive 13 GB file.

Report incoming:
Apparently the hype train had to break for a short bug hunting period (the little kids love those bugs, ain't they?). Full speed ahead for Release Ville!

Seriously: Release will be today! I just had to fix a couple of Backgrounds which had the wrong order and thus looked broken in game. Thanks tirlititi for all the help!

And yes, the uncompressed (looseless) Backgrounds are 13 GB big. Stored in 7zip I can shrink that down to 4.1 GB. I'll not release another compressed form as this takes too long and the quality loss is quit sever in FFIX (at least from what I saw).
They don't have a normal format like BMP or PNG. They use their in engine format which is Tex,

I'll upload to mega and my own onedrive.
If someone could provide me mirrors that I can link, that really would be great.

Sorry for all the fuss but I think you deserve a complete package (or as complete as it can get).

If you are willing to place the whole thing in a torrent, I will seed it pretty much continuously.

What do you need from me besides the files?

Update: Uploading the mod now to Mega! I've reworked 9 broken backgrounds and looked trough all of the remaining. Couldn't spot anything off so -> Chooo Chooo! :D

Congrats Fraggoso :D
That's a hell of a work you did there. Thank you!

As said, I made a video to celebrate your mod's release.

A torrent is a good idea TheBlackCarlo, tell us if you make one :)
Is there a way to have both Memoria (the mod) and the enhanced backgrounds?
I'll see if I'm able to do it in a few hours (I never made a torrent in my life, but I don't think it should be extremely hard)

Fraggoso, or anyone who downloads the mod, you should upload it to the FFIX nexus, with all credit being given to Fraggoso, of course.

Thanks a ton for this mod Fraggoso! I can't wait to try it when I get home
