Interesting (in a bad way), I'm sorry you have trouble. Can you give us more details, platform, specs, etc?
I tried to re-download the file and validate the file, but no dice. It just didn't launch with the OP error.
Couldn't find any logs in appdata, all I could find is the empty Hexters folder.
I had to refund the game, but I am still looking forward buying the game as it gets updated!
I understand perfectly, I would have done the same to be honest. Thanks for reporting this, this seems to be a problem at Unity's end and hopefully a new build with newer version will fix this problem in 1-2 days.
We rolled out a patch with new Unity version which should help with this problem. If by any chance you ever find yourself getting the game again I'd appreciate if you could report if the problem persists.
So with the Holiday sale I re-purchased game(this time I'm not refunding), but the same issue still occurs.
The appdata folder's still empty, no logs to be found in game folder either.
I googled around the error and apparently it happens on some windows 7 64bit(which I'm on).
All other Unity based games run fine, and here's my detailed PC specs:
OS : Windows 7 64bit (as said earlier)
CPU : Intel i7-3960X 3.30Ghz
RAM : 16gb
Video : Geforce GTX 980 with latest driver
I've found this thread, saying reinstalling vcredist might help. Will let you know the result soonish.

EDIT : So I reinstalled VC++ redistributable 2015-2019 and ran DotNetFix, but no dice.
