Keyboard input lag?
I'll play the game for varying amounts of time. Then I'll suddenly have an issue of when I press forward (or another direction), my character will move a few steps then stop. I have to release and press again and sometimes won't even move.
Same situation with things like shooting or the Pipboy usage.
I can't find a pattern. Seems to really just come down to pressing esc to get the menu, but that doesn't seem to be consistent.
Any suggestions? I've tried the v-sync removal and a couple of other things. Nothing is sticking.

I have the same issue. I've noticed it usually takes place for me out in the open. My keyboard inputs just come in very delayed. the weird part is that my mouse inputs are virtually unaffected. I can look around and shoot but if i attempt to move its like I'm encumbered. during the worst times I can't even get my menu to open.

I'll add that I just got an extra 8 gigs of RAM (16 total). Doesn't resolve the issue, not that I honestly felt it was a lack of RAM.

One final update about this. I was using a wireless keyboard. I swapped to my plug in one and the problem is gone.
Strange considering the keyboard works completely fine, batteries aren't dead or anything (changed out for freshly charged ones, just to be sure). And it works outside of Fallout without issue.

Yeah, same problem here. I found out if I look at the floor and look at the sky, the issue got lessen. but when i look forward.... yep. problem come back.

Hope people can find a fix...

Are you using a wireless keyboard? Like I posted above, it turned out to be my keyboard. Even though the thing worked fine, for some reason Fallout 4 doesn't play nice with it.

Bumping an old thread because i'm having the exact same issue.

Tried disabling and enabling VSYNC. The issue seems to go away if i disable vsync, but then my FPS is too high and the game begins to break.

I tried limiting my FPS with VSYNC disabled using nVidia inspector and EVGA Precision X but neither fixed it.

When i press and hold A then let go and press D, my character continues to strafe left for another 1-2 seconds. Looking and interacting with any menu is extremely difficult. Reloading sometimes holsters my gun. Overall any keyboard interaction is broken.

I can't find a fix D:

What is "it"? The above 60 frames or the input delay? You need to change this to a 0 in your pref.ini file too
iPresentInterval=0

Vsync causes input delay, that's fact written in stone but how bad it is varies, it varies by game-to-game and person-to-person.

The frame cap should work if it's setup right.

Another alternative is RiviaTuner can do it.

You might try Adaptive Vsync. Vsync will only be enabled when your running above your refresh rate. If your always hitting your refresh rate (or half your RR with halved adaptive vsync) then it won't much good for the input delay.

I found that Bit Defender 2016's virus scanner causes input lag.

Literally, you turn off the virus scanner and the lag goes away.

I just upgraded from 2015 to 2016 and I immediately started seeing crazy lag.

If you open notepad, hit/hold the A key, and watch the screen... You see the character 'A' jump and pause, etc.

Turn off Bit Defender, goes away.

If you guys are still struggling with this, disabling EVGA PrecisionX's overlay solved my issue. I know I'm commenting on an old post, but since I found this through Google myself, I just hope to help whoever runs into the same issue.

Good luck, everyone!

I found that when I had hooked up my monitor to my tower I had actually plugged the hdmi for my monitor to the wrong hdmi port on my tower. This caused Nvidia graphics to set fallout 4 game graphics to low as well as serious lagging on the game itself and keyboard input delay. Once I had switched hdmi ports the games graphics automatically set to ultra and there was no more keyboard input lag. I was so mad it was such an easy fix.
