Steam Deck OLED still running at half the frame rate after new patch
This game should not be verified.

Edit: Reddit thread explaining issue days ago with fix. Unsure if it still works now after update: https://www.reddit.com/r/SteamDeck/comments/1c6suoy/fallout_4_oled_frame_rate_fix_original/

Yup, I've re-enabled the launcher and dialed back the settings, set iPresetInterval to 0 and made falloutprefs.ini read only but the frame timing on OLED is abysmal.

Prior to the update it was running at a smooth locked 60 fps.

It’s messed up. I held off downloading FO4 on my SD OLED until today, hoping they’d have addressed this issue.

Try setting your steamdeck refresh rate to 60

As i said earlier, prior to the update it was running at a smooth locked 60 fps.

OP, can you post a link to this thread in the main Steam Deck sub reddit? It should boost the post count here and get more eyes on it. Since we might see a patch hotfix, now is the best time to complain.

Be sure to mark it as being an OLED-specific issue, otherwise this thread will get flooded with like every Deck issue not related to this.

Will do! Reddit is down for me atm so will try again later.

Thanks!

And yeah, it seems Reddit has imploded.

It's honestly incredible how they not only didn't fix this issue, they also seem to have broken the previous workaround by no longer letting us disable vsync through the config files. Which makes the "Steam Deck Verified" version worse than the previous version.

I have my oled steam deck set to medium with a setting or two on high. And 90% of the time I have 90 fps. This is with a few mods installed as well such as the unofficial patch.

I’ve put 40 hours into the game and while some sections like to dip down to the 60s 70s
I much enjoy playing at 90hz, especially since most of the game seems to run well at these settings.

Try not maxing your settings out, if you are? Steam deck can only take you so far. Also, medium settings look just fine on the small screen. Looks great

Unless you applied the fix you will be running at half the frame rate regardless of how it feels. And i'm not entirely sure if the fix still works now after the update with someone saying it does not.

Yeah, this is the fix I've been trying. But it no longer works, at least not for me.

Damn that's really not good. I was holding out hope it still would. Thanks for letting us know.
