In first person view I cannot look down...

Help. For some reason in first person view I cannot look down. I can only pivot my head from side to side. I am able to move and look normally in third person view but I prefer 1st person.

Does anyone know how I can fix this problem?

No I do not have any mods installed. I do have a season pass though.

Yes I just finished. That does not seem to have solved the problem.

Update. This issue also makes it so I can't free snipe. IE I can only move the scope from left to right while sniping from 1st or 3rd person. making it almost impossible to properly snipe. For now I've been using only VATS to kill opponents but that's starting to get really annoying...

i had the exact same problem 2 times, and it happened always when a melee killmove glitched out. the enemie died immediatly but the anomation kept going and when VATS ended icouldnt move the camera up or down while in 1st person. this happened to me in survival mode but thank god i could go back to a former save BEFORE the glitched attack.
so the solution was to go back to a save before it glithced out, hope that helps.
PS. did u had a glithced melee.killcam?

Yes I had a glitched Killcam. Thanks for the info. I started a new game to see if I had the same problem and I don't so I assume that you are correct and it is a kill cam glitch. Thanks.

Unfortunately I usually use quicksave to save my game and my most recent saves are after the glitch occurred. I could use a save that is over 40 gameplay hours old to fix the glitch I guess. I hope that there is a better solution.

For everyone that googles for this, here's the solution/workaround:

Go to third person, interact with a terminal or sit in a sofa/chair

Then you're fine again!

Ahh yes the quick save... how ever, the game dose do auto saves you can fall back to... I do not use quick save...

I'm glad that you were able to find a consistent fix. I've encountered this error a few more times since I made this post and just reloaded a save. I've beaten the game quite a few times since my last post and recently I completed all of the achievements. Good luck, have fun.
